Try to select flowers that are in season. Or like others have suggested, use mostly candles and use a few flowers. Talk to the florist and let them know your budget.

Yeah, flowers in season are your best bet, but with a November wedding I don't know what's in season. Speak to your florist to get some ideas on how to keep cost down with out taking away from the beauty of the flowers!

I wasn't planning on doing flowers for my CP, It was way over my budget.
However, after speaking to my florist, she's giving me a really good rate for each CP (cheaper than what I would have spend if I was doing non-flower cp).
So i decided to go with the flowers and do a low cp.

Roses are pretty much the cheapest, so stick with those.
Dont do a humungous Bo-K.
I've seen BMs carry just one flower (like a long calla lily nicely wrapped or something)
Also, do low CPs instead of high CPs.

Low smaller CP, use roses they are the least expensive flower, make smaller bo-ks, speak to your florist they should be able to accomodate your budget.

Use a flowering plant instead of a flower arrangement on your CP.

This is what I am doing..Roses in Low CP with fillers...and very minimal flowers at the church!

If you are having the ceremony at the church, you can ask the florist to use more 'filler' or greenery for the altar pieces...according to my florist it would save you a few dollars :)

I would suggest doing some lower centerpieces and some high centerpieces. Also you can use more candles instead of flowers and I think that will save you some $$.

I am doing the flowers myself, but that's a big job, and I worked in a flower shop for over 5 years.
If you don't want to DIY it, there are a couple things you could do.
Skip flowers at the church....isn't the place pretty without flowers and bows all over the place?
But a cheap container at Michael's, or AC Moore, etc. and give them to your florist. Buying the container on your own will cut some costs.
Use one flower for the CP....I am doing a pretty bouquet of alstromeria in a watering can. Simple, pretty in an understated way, and CHEAP!
And lastly, keep things small. The larger you go for CP's and BOK's the price will rise very quickly.

'Recycle' flowers...My sister used her BoK and the BM Boks as the CPs on the sweetheart table, and the tables where the BP/immediate family was sitting.
Also, what about a CP that is a flower floating in water with some votives/petals around the vases...I've seen this done, abd it's very beautiful.
