Okay, I'm trying to figure this out, I know there have been tons of threads on tipping, but can you all look this over and tell me if I'm insane or not?
Matire'd - $5 per person Bridal Attendant - $150 Valet - $1 per car Coat Check/Bathroom Attendant - I need to double check if this is included in our service charge from the hall first, but if not, $1 per person? Limos - $100 for bridal car, $50 per other car DJ/MC - Our MC is the owner, is $300 okay for both? Photo/Video - $400 total, they own the business Flower Delivery - I was thinking $50 but if the owner delivers it do I tip more?! Hair - 15%-20% give or take Makeup - 15%-20% give or take Singer at church - $50-$100? Organist - $50-$100? Alter Boy(s) - $20 each Wait staff - $20 each Bartenders - Not sure yet, because I know people will tip them but I don't want those tip jars out No DOC
Am I missing anything/anyone? Thanks!
Just as an FYI because I know people are going to ask - I decided to tip the wait staff because as an ex-catering hall waitress, I know that this service charge the hall claims to say that the wait staff gets tipped and they do not. I worked in 3 very popular halls and I never once saw a tip unless it came from someone at the table. I honestly believe that service charge goes to pay their salaries, and not as a tip.

im tipping the waitstaff too cause im an ex villa lombardi waitress and we only get tipped what guests give us

I worked at the Watermill so I know as well as you ladies do that the wait staff needs more $$$, the Watermill waiters don't make near as much as a waitress in a resturant.

This is exactly why I don't think we'll be tipping the bartenders. No offense to the bartenders, but the wait staff lugs all those huge plates/trays/food and whatnot, it's a lot of hard work. I really can't believe that people think to tip a bartender, but not their waiter? It just baffles me.

I think you are being very very generous.
I would consider reducing Maitre 'd to $3 pp Limos - are you sure it wasn't already included, mine is written right into the contract DJ - if he owns the company, the money you are paying is his, I would consider $50 only to the MC Photo/Video - same thing, they own company, why are you giving them so much extra? Flower delivery $20 is fine IMHO (look at it this way, how much do you give the guy who comes to your office on Valentine's Day? probably nothing because the reception takes them for you) I most certainly would not tip MORE because it's the owner, I would absolutely tip less because it's the owner I would also skip, valet, bathroom attendant and bartenders because your guests will all tip those.

In regards to Limos, it is included, but I thought you still tipped on top of that? We also have a limo coming back for us and our parents at the end of the night.

NO, if its included and you know the wedding industry, you DO NOT TIP the driver again, he does get that gratuity.

You can tip them additionally if you feel it necessary. But I wouldn't give more than $20.
