Can dogs get diarrhea for no reason?

I came home just now and as soon as I walked in the door I smelled it
Bama had crapped ALL OVER the inside of his crate. The smell was horrendous!
I don't understand what could've given him diarrhea. He only ate what we normally give him, which other than his food is some treats (nothing new either) some cheese (he eats it all the time) and a few pieces of pear.

this happened to my dog last week
they can pick something up anywhere- not only food- in water, on toys, etc.
it's quite normal and shouldn't last more than 4 or 5 days.
feed rice and boiled chicken.

bailey randomly throws up....she might get into something that wedon't know about...but who knows. I know she gets the runs/tummy troubles when the weather changes

Well, he's acting as if nothing is wrong - he running around and playing like usual! So he's not sick. I guess it's just random tummy trouble. It'll be rice and chicken for din-din tonight!
