Can I change out of my dress before I leave the reception??
My mom is insistant that I wear the dress out of the reception and into the limo to leave for our honeymoon. I want to change into a pretty dress right at the very end of the reception but before the sparkler farewell (think Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias).
Reasons for this:
1. I don't want to cart my dress to the hotel and then make my mom come out the next day and pick it up.
2. I can't get out of the dress on my own and let's be honest, not so sexy on the wedding night to spend 45 minutes trying to unhook buttons and shimmy out of spanx and garters.
She said it's tacky. I say it is practical.
Your thoughts?

I'd say go for it.. also you can tell you mom that it's not like you're going to be leaving in jeans and a t-shirt- you would be wearing a nice dress still.
I understand totally what you're aiming for and yes its practical.

I think it's classic to do that actually....like you are really leaving in the Just Married car for the honeymoon in your cute 'travelling' outfit! I'm not doing it b/c I want to wear that dress forever...through the afterparty and all....but I think you definitely can and it would be cute!

That's what many people used to do and I heard it's coming back in vogue....(Didn't they do that in father of the bride too) That is something I actually wanted to do but I just love my dress soo much that I don't think i'd want to take it off...but i'd definitely say go for it!

I'm not changing out of mine and wouldn't really consider it since we're doing an afternoon wedding and I'll wear it out afterwards... but if I was in your position it might be a good idea

I think that is a great idea if you are leaving straight to go to the hotel then to your honeymoon. I've been to a wedding where the bride and groom both changed into 'honeymoon outfits' and it was so nice.

i agree! at first i wanted to change into something else.....but i love my dress and want to wear it as long as possible.
i say if it is what you really want--go for it!!!
