that everyone should waiter or waitress for at least one day in their life!!! They should wait on a family of 9, with 5 kids all under 5! then the world would be a better place. Don't get me wrong, my night was fine, but holy cow, a coworker got stuck with some class acts tonight. ugh!

I was a bartender at a cateringhall all through undergrad. I think you are totally right - people dont understand what a stressful job it can be!

I have never been a waitress, but I can sympathize with you. I totally feel like a waitress when I am at work! People seriously think that I am there to serve them. Just as a busy waiter has 8 or 9 tables, I have 8 or 9 sick patients. People who are not in our shoes just dont understand. As a general rule, the more sick they are, the less they complain. The ones that really are sick are the ones that never ask for anything.
Patient screaming: 'NURSE NURSE! HELP ME PLEASE!!'
Me: (running over because I think this person is dying or something)
Patient: 'My visitors need some hot coffee and I need my pillow fluffed'
Me: 'I cant call for food right now, its 3 am'
Patient 'What kind of establishment is this, that I cant get a hot meal and coffee when I demand it?'

I totally agree, I help out at a Country Club and let me tell you, some of those people are unreal. I have never been treated like a lowlife until I worked there. Don't get me wrong, there are mostly nice people there, but the doozies are truly that. They act like you are their slave and if you don't perform to their standards they are all over it. Arghhh!
