Can I make a dress shop... (Update!!!)

order MY dress earlier than they intended to?

Here's the back story:

I ordered and paid 50% down on my dress from Macy's Bridal on March 7th. The lady told me it should be in in September. She said it usually takes about 4 months.

I called in October because I had not gotten any phone calls about it. The man who answered told me they weren't ordered it until March because my wedding isn't until July, and it would be in in the end of March. They didn't want to have to store it until May for my fitting.

So being the ditz I am, I was just like ohhhh ok. After thinking about it, I realized: how the eff did my dress go from taking 6 months, to like 4 weeks to come in!??

Now, I'm kinda nervous and I want them to order my dress NOW. I dont want them to wait until March and forget about it, or it doesnt come in in time.

Can I actually request that my dress is ordered now? I'm really worried about this. The other side is, I'm completely non-confrontational and would probably just end up crying.

What should i Do!???

I had a similar situation except instead of probably crying, I probably would have threatened their lives. so I made my mom call and do it for me.

I would definitely contact them one way or another, otherwise you'll keep freaking out and you don't need that stress!!!

yes! make them order it now!!!!!!! call back and tell them that you ordered it LAST MArch...you understand your wedding isnt until July but ordering now is a normal time frame.

or you could say that your wedding might be moved up until beginning of March and then once you know its ordered for a fact or they even call you to say its in, you tell them that its actually going to still be in July so you will come for fittings on the normal scedule, 1 or 2 months before..lol

And lorin, I like your idea about telling them I moved up the wedding....but i scuk at lying. i cant lie to save my life

When you purchased the dress you thought that you would have had it by now-that is one of the reason you purchased it there, im sure. What is the change-demand that they follow the original agreement(even though the month has past) they should order it now. Why do they tell you one thing but do another??
My dress was suppose to come in in march for June wedding - when we changed the date is now coming in November.
Its one less thing for you to worry about!
Plus they make you put this huge deposit down so the dress could be 'cut' and than they don't even order it.

UPDATE:

I called and spoke to someone! Apparently, the first man I had spoken to had given me the wrong information.

My dress was ordered in March 2009. The ETA is March 2010. So it has been ordered it just won't get here til March 2010.

The lady (Michelle) told me that the designers usually order the dresses first for weddings that are closer to the date they are being ordered. Since my wedding isn't until July 2010, I don't need my dress before march.

So at least I know it has been ordered and will be in in March!
