Can I negotiate with my reception hall after I've signed the contract?
I booked my hall quite some time ago, and when I went there I completely fell in love with the place and didn't negoitate for any extras before signing. They did offer a lot, but now I'm feeling like maybe I could have gotten more (like more food for the cocktail hour or an extra entree choice). I'm having a large wedding, probably about 230-250 guests. Can I negoitiate for something more now or at the tasting? Or is it too late?

Very true. I think my first big payment is due soon, so maybe I'll give it a try then.

Trish, you should at least try. I did the same thing when I booked with East Wind. I fell in love with the place and I was just glad that they had a date for us that I didn't think of negotiating anything else. One thing I learned is that there's no such thing as a fixed price in the bridal/wedding business. Everything is negotiable. So now I never sign anything on a first meeting. I always say I'll think about it and I'll call you back...so you have leverage. Well, good luck.

Give it a shot. I actually didn't find out about some of my extras until we planned the menu. You never know.

just a word of advice, make sure you put everything in writing. also, it is important to include a note on the original contract that there is an addendum, with your signature or initials and that of the hall representative.
