Ok, so my mom this morning asked if I made my first fitting appointment yet. I said No. She said, well you should make it. I said Maybe later.
Well I'm going to be honest, coming from someone like me who loves her curves and stuff... I am PETRIFIED to try my dress on and start my fittings. And I have been putting it off for weeks now to make the appoitment. there are reasons:
1) My mom is very opinionated, and I really don't want her at the fitting b/c as much as I love her, I don't want her to control the fitting. I want the dress to be fitted to my body, not to what she thinks it should be fitted too. If I don't bring her, my dad said its a slap in the face since she bought me my veil.
2) I love my dress. I REALLY love my dress. You all know I love my dress. But what if the dress I tried on months ago isn't the dress thats on me when I go to the fitting? Like what if everything I remember about me and the dress months ago doesn't reflect now?
3) What if FH hates it on me. Yeah, I'm worried about that. Like what if he's not impressed.
I'll probably take this down in a bit, but really, I'm kinda freaked out by this whole thing. My sister said for me to go try it on again, but I'm nervous. I sound like a big baby, but this wedding is inching closer and I think I'm starting to feel it....

aww sandra dont be nervous, everything will be exquisite! i would talk to your mom beforehand, let her know that you value her opinion but youre the one who will be wearing the dress, so maybe she can suggest but not push things at the fitting...
if anything youll love your dress more now that its going to fit and everything!! and fh's jaw will drop and soon as he sees you! that dress shows off your curves like whoaaaa!!!
you just have the jitters darling, no worries! its gonna be fab!

I think we're all starting to stress out a lot.
First off, maybe you should schedule your first appointment at a time when you know for sure your mom can't make it. Even if you need to take a day from work or something. Let this be something you experience alone, and then have her come in for your second fitting.
Secondly, your dress is SO YOU. It's very old-school Hollywood glam and I swear, if I could pull off a style like your's, I would. I envy you for having the bod to be able to wear it! And you look so damn happy in your photos of you in the dress.
I really don't see how your FH wouldn't be impressed. You glow in the dress photos in your album...imagine once it's fitted properly for you, and you're all done up with makeup and your hair...there is NO WAY that he's not going to be floored by how you look.

You'll probably need more than one fitting. Could you let your mom go with you for the first fitting, so she feels involved in the process, but then have someone else go with you for the other fittings?
I wouldn't recommend going alone to the fittings. At least for me, it was difficult to try to take everything in by myself to make sure that the dress was being fitted properly from all angles. It is helpful to have an extra set of eyes.

I would take your mom to the fittings but maybe talk to her before about your concerns. You look great in your dress!!!!!!!! Go try it on.. Your FH will love how you look in that dress or any other dress ..

Re: Can I tell you guys something....
omg yeah im totally with you on ALL of these things..
when my dress came in i took my MOH b/c my mom is sooo opinionated and negative and i was already having doubts about my dress i really didn't need my mom there making me feel worse, i needed someone supportive
it was a good thing bc once i put the dress on i felt sooo much better about it
im still kinda having doubts, i wish i got something a little sexier and i def worry that FH won't love it but i think this is normal bc when you try your dress on in the store you're not all done up
can you try your dress on with a friend just to see it before the fitting and then go again with your mom for the fitting? this was suchhhhhh a good idea for me... go in secret!!

Re: Can I tell you guys something....
I had my 1st fitting last week and felt exactly like u. also for months I KNEW I made the wrong choice and there was nothing I can do about it. BUT: as I put my dress on every single worry evaporated! I wasnt sure I made the right choice, I was surprised at how right it was. I am seriously in love.
we all have these fears, its totally understandable with the amount of time that goes btwn seeing the dress each time, I mean what other piece of clothing we ever bought over a yr in advance and then didnt get to take home.
I would just make the apt. u will see that ur just being silly. and btw, JMO, but u made a great choice. that dress is meant to be worn by u.

There is NO WAY POSSIBLE your Fh isn't going to love your dress on you. Remember you are going to be his BRIDE! He is going to be looking into your eyes when you say your vows not checking out your dress. Do NOT worry about that.
You mom that's a tricky one. Could you go to the first one without her and then bring her to the second fitting when the dress is pretty much cut to you already? I know this is mean but maybe plan it for a day you already know she is busy and play dumb, or blame the seamstress.... again kinda mean but you need to have your dress how you want it.
Lastly, you are going to love your dress MORE once it is on you bc it is YOUR dress. It isn't a sample which a million people tried on it is yours forever and you are going to LOVE IT I PROMISE!
