Can I vent about my mom?

So wednesday night me, my mom, and sis went to a bridal store to try on gowns.

The lady who helped me put a veil on me so i could see 'the complete ensemble'. Then she asked if i planned on wearing a tiara. I said NO,it's not me. Im either going to do a flower or crystal brooch on the side of my hair.

My mom proceeds to tell me that I MUST WEAR A TIARA. HOW WILL ANYONE KNOW IM THE BRIDE (hello??if they dont know im the bride then they shouldn't be at my weading )AND THAT I NEED TO BE A PRINCESS SINCE I DIDNT HAVE A SWEET 16 TO BE ONE (my family has big 10-15k sweet 15 or 16s, i never wanted one!!I dont want to be a princess, i ant to be me as a bride). This went on for 10 minutes. She was putting on Huge miss america tiaras on me!

Im going later on today to look for more dresses and im getting a headache already thinking of her bringing up the subject again.

I completely understand the position your in!! I never had the sweet 16 either. Same reason ( i didn't want one). My mom wanted me to wear one of those princess gowns, and I refused. Its not me. This wedding process has been full of headaches b/c my mom and I can't agree on one thing. She has her vision and i have mine. Just keep in mind that this is your wedding. Don't sacrifice things b/c she puts up a fight. Do what you want.
fyi, i ended up getting the dress i wanted, its been months and she won't let it go. she calls it an expensive night gown. but i don't care, this is how i invisioned it.
Good Luck!

Make sure you tell your mom she already had a turn to get married! You need to do what makes YOU comfortable!

I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to say this to my mom too.

I am sorry about your situation. If you don't want to wear a tiara, then you should not feel pressured to do so, especially to fulfill a need that your mom has.

OOOO! Idea!

Ok so buy the tiara - Even put the thing on when you get your hair trial done but make sure your hair stylist knows you are NOT going to wear it - make sure someone makes mom busy and drop it on the floor and step on it the morning of the wedding! Then pull out your backup hairpiece - the one you bought that you really wanted - and wear that!

Problem SOLVED! Just make sure you go and buy a Wal-Mart Tiara and put a pricey tag on it or something...

I don't like conflict, can ya tell??
