Can it really be POSITIVE!!!....update #3 at bottom

ok, here's the thing....

af came nine days ago, but very light. i have been using the clear plan fertility monitor this month for the first time...well, it gave me a 'peak' signal this morning on day 9!!!....i ususally do not o until day 17 or 18 so i knew something was up.

after thinking about it all morning, at lunchtime i went and bought a HPT and i got a BFP!!!...i just finished my af bleeding six days ago!!!!!

I am almost sure i am not mistaking af for implantation bleeding because i bled enough to soak an entire tampon a day (sorry, tmi)

the only other thing it can be is that i m/c and there are still traces of the pregnancy hormone in my body.(which would cause the BFP)

so i went to the doctor and he sent me for bloodwork. he is going to monitor my levels until friday to see if they are going up or down.....has anyone ever heard of anything like this??....i am kind of in shock right now!!

Oh WOW! I don't what it could be but I hope that it's a BFP to stay and you are pregnant! Keep us posted!!
Kathy

Also - YES its entirely possible that you got a 'fake' AF and are infact PG!!!

Good Luck!
Don't forget, there are women (although) few who have some AF like bleeding while being pregnant. So hopefully it's a BFP!
Keep us posted.

Re: Can it really be POSITIVE!!!

thank you, guys....i went for a blood test this morning and should get the results back in a couple of hours to check my hcg levels....

i took another hpt this morning and, although it was still positive, it was lighter than the one i took yesterday....i am afraid that my #'s may be going down instead of up - i am not so positive right now...

does anyone know what would be a 'normal' hcg level for me to be at right now?...(i would be 5 weeks and 3 days if the pregnancy has stuck)

Re: Can it really be POSITIVE!!!

UPDATE:

the blood test came back positive, but my beta level was only 41....

i think it should be something like 2000.

so it doesn't look good. i go back friday to test again to see if they are going up or down but i know they are going down.

i took another hpt this morning and, even though it is still positive, it is a little fainter than the one i took yesterday and it took longer to come up. if my numbers were increasing, wouldn't the test come up positive stronger and sooner?

For everyone who has experienced m/c: how long before you could start to ttc again?

thanks.

Aww...I know it's so hard, but try not to think too negatively yet. I had a miscarriage in October and got PG again after my 2nd AF in December. The doctor told me to wait just 1 AF cycle and I know there are girls on here who got PG again BEFORE getting AF. It's so so hard, if you need to talk FM!

I'm so sorry for what you're going through right now... it's so unfortunate, but so many women experience a miscarriage and don't even know it because they just think it's just their period. Unfortunately, here, you knew because of the pregnancy test

As for TTC again, you should ask your doctor. Most doctor's recommend 2-3 months, but as I quickly learned, it's just a precautionary measure. I miscarried at 6 weeks and conceived immediately after, within about 10 days, even though my Dr. told me to wait 2-3 months. When I asked if I had increased my risk for miscarriage, he told me he only recommends 2-3 months because of superstition and old traditional thinking, and that really, conceiving after the miscarriage doesn't increase your chances of miscarriage, though, I can speak from my personal perspective, it does add a significant amount of stress and anxiety because it's so soon after and because it's difficult to ascertain the dates when you haven't had a period to date everything by. If you have any questions, FM me!

Update:

thank you for all your support....the office closed early yesterday and never called back with the results!!...can you believe it?...now i have to wait until monday to find out....

on tuesday, they told me my level was 41 (which is VERY low). i have been taking hpt's all week and they have all been positive. (even the ones that only are supposed to detect 100)

is it possible that the HCG is still in my body from a m/c and that is why i am testing positive?.....even so, if i was 41 on tuesday, why would i be testing positive on all these tests that say they detect levels of 50 and 100? and wouldn't a level THAT low, have gone down to zero by now? (4 days later)

but my bb's are not sore in the least, so i am not too optimistic.....i can't stand the wait!!

First and Foremost to your doctor's office! My doc's office did the same thing to me once when I was in a similiar situation and it really bigged me!

It is possible that HCG is still in your body, sometimes it can take quite a while for it to leave your system. Many tests say that they measure at 50 or 100 miu's but can actually detect much lower than that. I know its going to be hard, but I think you are going to have to wait until Monday morning to hear (although I would be calling them the second that they open!) The hpt's you have been taking for the last few days, have the lines been getting lighter or darker or have they been staying about the same? Also, which brand have you been using?

Re: Can it really be POSITIVE!!!....update #3 at bottom

so my doctor's office DID call me just now with the lab results.....my # only went up to 60....from 41 to 60 in three days...i am completely crushed....

now i have to wait until monday to talk to my doctor.....i guess that means i am going to miscarry any day, right?

does anyone have any experience with this?

Oh I am so sorry to hear this news I've read a lot of articles and information that suggest people NOT use early pregnancy tests for this very reason. They say it's very common for women to get pregnant but then lose the fetus within a couple of weeks. So they tell you to wait to take the test, I guess to try and avoid women getting upset?

I'm so sorry, I really feel for you and I wish I could help you

I am so sorry to hear what your going through. My heart and prayers go out to you!

Have you had a sonogram yet?

My doctor immediately gave me a sonogram when I mentioned that I was spotting. What ended up happening with me is that in the beginning they mentioned that my levels were too low and that most likely it was a 'chemical Pregnancy' and that my pregnancy was most likely unviable. They said I should start my period within a week. They did do a sonogram but couldn't see anything. (I also have fibroids so that is a possibility why they did not see anything)

WEll, I never started my period and I called a week later and I went to the doctor's office again. Only to find that my levels did increase. They did another sonogram and nothing. I had blood test everyday that week and my levels were increasing until they started decreasing again. My doctor sent me to the radiologist for an ultra sound to see if they could see a sac and because my fibroids, they did not see anything. My levels did decline and my doctor mentioned that it was most likely an ectopic (not neccesarily in the tubes, but implantation anywhere else other than the uterus) To make my long story shorter, they had to do a laparoscopy and D and C. My pregnancy wasn't in the tubes but they they were never able to located it and suggested that it was implanted near my fibroids. So I had to take a shot.....methotrexate to clear any pregnancy lleft in your body. To answer your question, for me, because of the methotrexate, I had to wait 3 mos.

I hope I didn't scare you. I don't mean to....but, I just want you to be informed of all possibilities. Continue to call your doctor. I'll be praying that you will have a viable pregnancy.

Don't rely on the numbers alone. See if you can get a sono. I'm saying a prayer that you get wonderful news. I know it's hard, but try not to think negatively yet.
