Have you checked JCPenneys- the Home Store...they have alot of nice sets...

OMG! I am having the same problem. I posted on the Home Board about it. Everything is a rip-off and so ornate and gross looking. I have been all over Route 110 & department stores. I'm running out of ideas----thank God we have some time. Let me know if you have any luck!

I was going through the same thing. I stopped looking. I plan on just buying a few pieces maybe 2 good size chest of drawers from Ikea. Eventually when we get a house I'll worry about it then. We're going to be renting for about 2 years. We figure that by then our taste will have changed anyway so by the time we get a house we can get new bedroom furniture.

This may sound odd.... but I got my furniture online!!
They are VERY reasonable. I got a king size poster, 9 drawer chest with a seperate mirror and a gentlemans chest (12 drawers and space for a 27' tv) for about 5000 delivered. They even set it all up. And later when one of the bed rails broke - they shipped a new set with no problems.
We shopped online, found what we liked and then figured out where the manufacturer sold locally and went to look at it to be sure it wasn't shoddy workmanship. Macy's had it for 8500.00.
Now that I think about it -- it was sort of like buying a wedding dress!!

Man, I thought I was the only one looking for a new bedroom set. I'm going to a place in Brooklyn on Atlantic Ave. on Saturday where my parents got theres. I'll let you ladies know then how it went.

I love my bedroom set...I got it at Seaman's when I bought my house last year. The headboard and footboard is leather! I also got a king size bed!
We're having trouble too... we're mixing & matching though, because we don't really like the idea of everything co-ordinating so much! Our bed is a black wrought iron bed from Crate and Barrel, and we're getting some pieces from Pottery Barn I think. PB has some great sales, and it's not all that much more expensive than a lot of those furniture stores on 110 & Carle Place. But, all we have is the bed so far.... which is of course, the most important part

I bought mine at Once and Again Home Furnishings & Decor. I bought it in the Coram store,but they opened one in Farmingdale. They have BEAUTIFUL things! It's all imported. My bedroom furniture is gorgoeus. We bought a 4 poster bed that looks like it was made for Vikings!
Whew that sounds tough! Me and my fiance moved in together almost 4 years ago. We rent an apartment. Our bedroom furniture is a mix and match of our baby furniture and a new platform bed from gothic cabinet craft (or something like that). We got our couch from Levitz. Maybe there?

I actually found our bedding at pottery barn. I thought the prices were very reasonable, and I loved the classic look of them. Good luck! It took us a long time to decide.

I got mine at Thomasville too! I have the bogart collection...here is my bed and nightstands. I actually just ordered my living and dining room furniture from them too!!!
