can someone do math for me

Im giving in the final number for my hall. Is it:

the price per person (let's say $100)
times the 20% service charge
times 8.625% tax?

130.35

or is it price per person
times tax
times service charge?

129.72

I dont think its either actually.

Mine is
(Price per Person * Tax) + (Price per Person * Service Charge) + Price Per Person.

Meaning service charge isn't taxed and there is no service charge added on the tax.

Price per person, service charge, tax.

$100 x 20% = $120
$120 x 8.625% = $130.35

ETA: This is how the Woodlands calculated it for me...

$130.35.


to rip us off more, halls charge the tax over the prices after the service charge is included

I actually called like 3 weeks before and asked straight up if the gratuity is taxed and he said YES

ok thats what i was afraid of. they actually told me that they have to call it service charge so that they can tax it. i dunno...
