after the ceremony you just stand there and greet people as they walk out - it is usually the bride and groom and the parents

you can do one or not. . sometimes people skip and go right to their CH and greet guests there. .others still like to have one. .depends on taste, average age of guests, formality etc. we are not having one but most guests are close friends and family, not friends of parents etc so is more informal. .

Can mean different things to different people...in my house, being Catholic, parents would stand next to bride and groom and basically 'WElcome 'them to the wedding and thank them for being ther...

i'm just greeting the guests during cocktail hour. a lot of people told me that its not part of the tradition to go to the cocktail hour -- but i dont care, i'm DEFINITELY going!! so i'm greeting guests there and a lil' bit during the reception :)
