My girlfriend is getting married in Oregon and said she was able to contact the county visitor's and convention bureau they took all her information regarding her wedding, they contacted several hotels in that area for her and gave her several different prices for stuff they could offer her. Does anyone know if they do this in NY? I am planning from CA and am having the hardest time finding hotels under $100 for my OOT guests. I can find them on Expedia but not from the hotel themselves.

Re: Can Someone Help Me??
To be honest, I'm not sure there are hotels under $100 on Long Island. Oregon is definitely going to be much cheaper than here so I wouldn't go by their pricing. Maybe suggest to the guests that they book on expedia or hotels.com instead of blocking rooms? Or, block some rooms but note that they are a little on the pricey side but that they can probably get a better deal if they wanted to do expedia, etc.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking for hotels anywhere not only LI. I had found the Comfort Inn JFK for $99 for that time. but I would like something with a pool.

My sister had a special rate of $99 a night for the Courtyard Marriot (near villa lombardi). The regular rate was much higher. I think you will have to call each hotel. Call your hall and see which hotels they recommend.

To be honest, under 100 in NY would probably be a not so nice place, JMO.
ETA: I just read prior post, and it would also depend on time of year too....

Hi - I have heard that tourism offices can often be helpful, but have never tried to use them as a resource before. I found this website and it might be helpful to look on it.

Also, I wasn't too familiar with the area where my wedding is being held either, so what I did was type in the address of the reception on Yahoo Yellow Pages and then clicked on nearby hotels. It returned over 20 hotels with their phone #'s and the estimated # of miles they were from my reception. Then, I just called each one and asked for their group rate. If you try to search on-line, you might not get their discounted group rate - I found that it was best to call the hotel myself and speak with their events manager. I am not too familiar with the area around Jericho Terrace, or I would try to help you more. Good luck! Finding a hotel under $100 (other than a cheap motel) will take alot of legwork - the cheapest I found was $119 a night.

I called around to a bunch of hotels in the area looking for one under $100 and couldn't find any. I called the HoJo, Best Western, and Rodeway Inn. Best price I got was $119 at the Smithtown Sheraton.
