Can someone help me tie a perfect knot?

No matter how hard I try, I'm lousy at it. I figure there is a technique to this. Could someone share their expertise? Thanks!

If you are willing to cheat, tie it just normal, then take a very tiny piece of ribbon and wrap it flat around the messy (but easy to make) knot and glue it in place.
