May seem like a silly question, but would love to know exactly what this is???????? Common sense tells me one thing, but to me it still doesn't make sense on a site as such.......

Re: Can Someone Please Advise Me on a Lurker?
Basically someone from your real life (I say this like LIW is fake, LOL)...well, someone from your real, everyday life finding out that you're on here and reading your posts.
That's why you'll see girls saying something like 'please don't quote' when it's something sensitive/really personal, because they just want the advice and then they delete what their issue was...so that people in their real life don't start talking about it and such.
While you do have to register to post, you don't have to register to read.
Basically, the idea is, don't post anything on here that you wouldn't say to someone's face because you never know who is reading. That's if you particularly care if people read. I don't, so I speak freely and carry a big stick.
ETA: Sometimes vendors will stalk your posts too! I haven't had any experiences with that, but every once in awhile a girl will.

We should have the option to block certain people who aren't our 'friends' or for that matter, people who aren't registered, or those who create fake profiles. Like Facebook

I have had vendors stalk my posts, but it hasn't been in a bad way. One vendor responded to something negative I posted about my sister's wedding, another poster recognizeed my posts I guess because I was asking questions about that vendor. The slightly creepy part was that she recognized me and called me by my screenname at a bridal show.

I have had a vendor lurker on here. I was checking out 2 RH's and the one we didn't go with knew who we went with and everything.. and he told us it was b/c of this site!

We had one (known) vendor lurker, it wasn't a problem in this case fortunately. It actually turned out to be helpful b/c she was able to address some of our concerns.

YIKES!! this is exactly why i put noooooooo personal information on here!!
even if you needed an account to view that wouldn't solve anything. people could just create a fake account in 10 seconds!

I had a vendor lurker, and they emailed me quoting specific things I said in my post. It creeped me out so much that I changed vendors!!!

ITA!!! because you never know who in your family or friends can be looking at all your info and crash the wedding or see your ideas before it all even comes together!

Re: Can Someone Please Advise Me on a Lurker?
Yeah ITA. This is why I don't post too much personal info or any photos of me on this board. Last thing I need is to have some weirdo screaming out 'Hey FutureMrsLMS!! I loved your dresss!!' on a subway platform or something...
I actually had some vendors contact me based on what I wrote here. One was my current photographer who saw a post I wrote about a former bride who didn't get her albums - the President of the company called me a few hours later to ask me who the bride was and that such a situation was highly irregular. Also had my b-pic photographer FM me based on a question I asked on a thread about copyright issues, so that wasn't a big deal - it was nice to get those questions answered.
But yeah- gotta be careful what you type here because the whole world can read it. I don't think its smart to even post anything that says 'please dont quote..taking this thread down soon'. .because once you hit that ENTER/POST button, whatever you write is released to the world.
