Can someone please explain to me...

why someone would make up a post? In the last couple days, I have seen a couple of us sort of accuse brides of putting up fictional posts. I'm relatively new here, so maybe I'm missing something. Does this happen a lot? Why would someone do that? I don't get it.

some made up posts that I know of are:

1. Fake usernames—they create usernames to bash other people on the site.

2. Adverstising—post to advertise their business and give it positive reviews by pretending to be a fake bride

3. Or if they’re real users maybe they just want to reach to their 1,000 post so they make up fake posts? lol

In real life there are people who are drama queens, outrageous liars or just plain mentally ill. Sometimes those people come online and post about nonsense or just crazy things. Sometimes their stories don't add up -- then people call them on it and it just gets out of hand.
If we're lucky, lol

Yup

I've been on this site for nearly 3 years and NOTHING surprises me anymore.

Some people just CRAVE attention and make up things...trust me its insane.

One particular 08er had been to GTGs and everything, had THOUSANDS of posts.....and then posted that someone was trying to sabotage their wedding. A mysterious 'new' poster came on and began bashing the girl on the 08 board...she was arguing with said poster and all the 08ers were coming to the girl's defense.

To the SHOCK and disgust of not only the 08ers on the site as well as the mods....it was discovered that the new 'mystery' bride who was arguing with the 08er that had been on here for awhile.....were coming from the SAME COMPUTER. So essentially this girl was ARGUING WITH HERSELF for attention. The 08ers were beyond shocked & hurt and couldn't believe it. Since then a few others have come on here and done similiar things....and that is why people question things when a 'newbie' has a crazy problem, cause they wonder if its the same thing again....someone making up a fake name to get attention.

With all this wedding planning, who has time for that? I can't find time to do anything

I get the impression that the fake posters aren't actually planning a wedding, just playing. They are either kids or seriously mentally disturbed. Then again, some people do have unbelievably ridiculous drama in their lives, so you really never know!!!

Lisa... I soooo realize why you havent reached that 1000 yet... this site, although a wonderful source of info, it becomes more obnoxious every day How's the planning going? is steve still driving you nuts... LOL

I guess I haven't been posting long enough to see these fake posts, or I'm just that blind, but that is ridiculous. I can see there being drama in some peoples lives and this may be how they cope with it, and I guess other people will do anything for attention. Making up two screen names and arguing with themselves??? does this person have split personalities? if so I feel bad for the groom (if there is one).

I did notice that vendors do know we talk about them on the chat boards, someone in the Fox hollow chat room brought that up, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the vendor reviews are made up or someone who works for a hall checks out the posts to see what they have as competition or what to/not to say to their customers.

I guess it just enforces the mind set to take everything you read here with caution

Yes there are people who come on the site to just start drama, there are people who make up posts b/c they have nothing better to do and want to gain attention, there are vendors who sign up on the site to advertise or push their business.

But it happens on all chat sites~this isnt the only chat site with drama or obnoxious people who make comments they know will spark a fight or start threads just to see who and what kind of rise they can get out of people.

Seems to be the banter comes with the territory

Things are great. Steve has poison Ivy, my knee is hurt...but at least the invites went out this morning? How are you?

Its happened in the past, and isn't a pretty site when it does happen...grownups acting like their in highschool is never good
