Hi everyone, ok well do you think that if I wanted to have a wedding August, 14 for about 50 people, small wedding, I already got quoted a place for $50 per plate, do you think 7 months is to soon to plan a small wedding, oh and the catch is lol we are working with a small budget like $7-8k, does anyone think this is possable to do in so little time and such little money, not looking for anything big and OH MY GOD, just simple and elegant.... Can this be done? Please give me your advice, and any ideas you have that I could maybe eliminate or maybe some ideas that I could do myself to save money, thank you so much vanessa.

Re: can someone please give me there advice
For a small wedding, I think 7 months is absolutely possible. My friend planned a wedding for 200 in 6 months so it's totally doable. Have you shopped for a dress or any vendors yet? This site and the girls are really helpful so I'm sure you can do it! Good luck!
ETA: As for saving money, I bought my dress at David's Bridal (it was under $1000 for my dress, veil, tiara, shoes, etc.). Also, I only got bouquets and boutonnieres at my florist and I didn't use a 'wedding' florist. We didn't get video.
You can also see if your RH offers any packages-we did that and saved a ton of money.

As long as you are focused and dedicate time to planning you will be fine. You have an advantage since you have a smaller wedding and you don't want anything too outrageous (or so you say now . )
Also the closer you are to a date, the cheaper it may be. Def shop around. Good luck!!

Re: can someone please give me there advice
I think it can definitely be done. If you were already quoted $50pp, then that's a great start especially for that time of year. Is everything included in the hall? All food, drinks and cake? If so then it really is a great deal. You can do your own invites, which would probably be the only diy that you would really need to do since you are not planning anything elaborate. Also, are you doing favors? If so, think really long and hard and don't just spend $$ on things that ppl are not going to use just for the sake of giving something. You can do donations or you can do something edible. It should be very easyto come up with something that would fit your budget since you have a small guest list.
Also is you dress and rings included in this total also? I'm sure a lot of the ladies on here can def recommend places to go and get beautiful but reasonably priced things.

definitely. one of my best friends got married in like 6 weeks... she saved a BUNDLE. you can eliminate a lot of extras (Save the Dates, videographer, albums for you and your family- you can make your own) also she bought her gown at david's for $99... it can def be done!!

ABsolutley! I know people who booked and planned a beautiful wedding in 4 months.... You will also get good prices bc vendors not booked yet will certainly want a full schedule. Good luck! If I had any vendors yet I'd suggest them but im in the beginning stages myself!

Re: can someone please give me there advice
I planned my wedding in 7 mos so it can def be done....to keep within your budget here are some things that can help you save $$: Go for a day wedding or a Thursday night...so much less-two RHs including the one I booked at told us that Thursday nights are the new hot night for weddings! Every Thursday night was booked there last summer. Do non-floral CPs...candle CPs are just as beautiful and elegant at a fraction of the price You can print your own invites, menus, STDs if you are using them, and you can make your own cardbox, sign-in book, table numbers and cake topper....I did it so anyone can lol THe one vendor you don't want to skimp on though is your photog...those are your memories of your day and most girls agree that your photog is your most impt vendor. To keep costs down you don't have to get parent albums or TY cards...you can make your own TY cards at websites like snapfish, shutterfly etc for a fraction of the cost Go to David's Bridal and/or trunk shows for your dress...David's has tons of dresses and if they don't have your size they will get it for you very quickly. My sister got her dress in one week!! Trunk shows offer discounts...I went to a trunk show at Demetrios Bridal Salon at Macy's and got 15% off my dress, tiara and veil HTH and we are here to help you!!!!!!! GL!!!

Re: can someone please give me there advice
You can do it!!!
Here are some ways to cut costs
For a photographer, buy the negatives... you can always print the photos when you have some more money and it will be less expensive then having a photographer print them for you.
If you would like floral centerpieces check out costco.com and samsclub or fiftyflowers.com. You can buy 'wedding packages' or bulk flowers.
I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: can someone please give me there advice
Anything is possible! You just need to start calling the big vendors. my suggestions to keep costs down are to 1. pick and choose whats most important to you and forget about the others. Dont let anyone tell you what you have to get or do, you dont.
2.Ask the photographer for the negatives or digital file instead of prints.. they are yours and you can get them printed anywhere for a LOT less. I am also skipping albums, i dont need them, i can make it myself.
3.I am not getting a videographer, instead i am having a trusted cousin film the important parts, I will do the editing, etc. myself on my pc.
4.I was shocked at how much flowers cost. Skip flowers wherever you can or check out local florists. You can be creative and carry something else down the isle (or have your BMs carry something unique or even not at all.) You dont need bouts either. I just read a post about them looking a squishy in pictures anyway.
5.And you can make a real pretty simple centerpiece yourself, there are TONS of DIY ideas on here and the web.
6. You can skip favors, make a donation in honor of your guests to a cause dear to you and even make a simple speech at your reception to genuinly thank them for being there, they will appreciate that just as much.
7. You dont need to have an open bar, but if you were dead set on it, what about just doing it for an hour or even just a signiture drink for the guests.
8. Make it simple. Choose 1 image or color to carry though and keep the elements simple and classy.
9. Do our own makeup and choose a hairstyle that a friend or relative can do for you, something simple and pretty.
10. Have a friend or family member drive you around or look into local classic car chapters, they may charge less than limos. Some even only require a small donation.
11. Print our own invites. Do 1 menu per table, and if you really want programs, etc. Print your own.
12. Shop around! Ask lots and lots of questions and save up coupons and check sales everywhere! I am addicted to my computer and online shopping. Free shipping is usually just as good as getting something in the store.
13. and my last piece of advice is to delegate. I am horrible at this! i am such a perfectionist but with only 6 months left I am learning to ask for help.
I hope something here will help you! Good luck! and if you need any more ideas let me know. i have lots of them :) GL
