ok here it is - my moh's have told me they are dragging me to the salon to have my eyebrows ripped off - ( yes that is exactly what they said) i have never done any eyebrow shaping before - honestly the whole thing sounds kind of barbaric to me - now i am totally avoiding them because they told me that they are just going to kidnap me one day while we are out and have it done i mentioned it to a friend and she couldnt stop laughing - she proceeded to tell me about the first and only time she had hers done - she tells me it swelled up so much she looked like a caveman for 2 days !!! i am scared to death now - is this really necessary ? what exactly do they do ? was reading the thread on BHB and they mention waxing threading and plucking - anyone who knows about this stuff please please help someone who is beauty knowledge challenged.

Re: can someone please tell me about eyebrow shaping?
I get my brows threaded. It doesn't hurt as much as waxing (waxing is a quick rip off a bandaid pain) and there is a virtually no swelling or irritation w/threading. Once you get your brows done. You'll love it. Let your friends take you, you'll thank them.

It makes a world of a difference when you have your eyebrows shaped! I agree with the threading, much less painful and now worries about swelling really. Go for it!

Definatley get threading done. U will not like waxing. Threading will pinch a bit, but it is not bad. If you livein Queens, I could recommend a great place.
Good luck.

Having your eyebrows shaped makes such a difference, you will love it. I am a plucker myself, my eyebrows grow in really fast. I just put it in with my daily routine.

I resisted waxign for a long time, untill I jsut couldn't keep up with plucking. DO you pluck at all? tryit your self a little first. Waxing bothers me less, b/c its quickerthey do maybe 3 or 4 spots per eye, ( to p & botom) the bottom part makes my eyes water, but they top doesn't really hurt.
I've heard threading hurts if its not a good pacle, so I'm a little worried. I just dont' get my brows waxed anymore, b/c I don't like the place I used to go to. They didn't really shape them, they just cleaned up the new growth above & below.

I get my eyebrow waxed.
The first time hurt a little, but I don't really mind the pain - you get used to it after a while. But what i don't like is how sometimes they don't look even or too thin -- I don't like them too thin, JMO.
So I grew them in and I'm trying to look for a place that can SHAPE them for the wedding. So I should ask for threading? Its better?
Regi, can you FM me that place/contact location? Do anyone know of a place in the City, like Midtown - Lex & 53rd?

Whether it's threading, waxing, or tweezing- Go for it!!! The pain is not bad at all & so quick, & when you see the end result it is worth it!!! I personally get my eyebrows waxed. My skin is ultra sensitive & the only reaction I have is I get a little pink (by where I was waxed) for about an hour. I can recommend a great girl in Nassau if you're interested, she's really gentle!

I get mine waxed. FH says I look like a raccoon after its done. But after a few hours the redness goes away and things are fine. Dont worry. Its over quickly!

Re: can someone please tell me about eyebrow shaping?
I get mine waxed but when the lady that does it (a personal friend, does my nails and hair too) goes on maternity leave (she's not pregnant yet but I think is trying) then I'll start going to get them threaded.
She actually does hurt me a bit but she also puts alot of pressure on the skin when she puts the linen over the wax to rip off.
I've gone to other women when she's away and they don't hurt me nearly at all.
Yeah the plucking can hurt/sting but it's for a moment.
But I hear threading isn't that bad at all.
I think once you go you'll like your brows so much more (the really open up the face) you'll suffer any pain (and it's really not that bad!!) to get it done.
