Can someone tell me about the level 2 sonogram?

Someone told us there is a test called level 2 sonogram that can tell you 98-99% if your baby is healthy. Is this a standard test everyone gets? The dr hasn't mentioned it to me yet. How far along do you have to be?
Please help with any info on it.

It's the anatomy sonogram that you get at 20 weeks. They go over all the baby's organs and parts to make sure everything is growing correctly. You can also find out the sex at this sonogram. It is the main sonogram. With most insurance companies, this will be the only other sonogram that you get that they will cover, unless there is a problem. HTH!

I think you get a 30ish week sonogram also...my insurance does not have a cap on sonograms. It is up to your doctor what you need and when.

At the Level 2 they measure the organs, look at all 4 chambers of the heart, make sure the spine is forming properly, make sure everything is where it should be, look at your fluid levels. They cannot see down sydromes or something like that though. Only a genetic test can tell you that information.

The level 2 sonogram takes a lot longer than your first one. It is nice though since you get to see soooo much of the baby. I mean, when will you ever see your baby's kidney again...never so enjoy watching the heart beat and seeing all the stuff.

Thanks. Someone had told me they took that and didn't have the amnio but it was able to detect the same things. That is basically what I wanted to see. I guess the dr will offer the level II sonogram to me in a month and a half.
