Can someone tell me what a 'Chaptered' DVD is supposed to be?

I'm really not sure how pi$$ed off I should be because perhaps my understanding of a chaptered DVD was incorrect. I received my fully edited wedding DVD (the other one that I raved about didn't have the title and chapter menu yet).

When I click on the chapters, they aren't the entire wedding. For example, there's one chapter called 'Here Comes the Bride' - well, the chapter starts with me walking down the aisle - no BMs, no DH, no GMs, no parents, nothing. And if I click on the Chapter before that, it's still not there. The only way I can see the entire processional is if I click 'Play All.' This doesn't seem right to me, but I wanted to get some more opinions before I call them tomorrow.

Also, my DVDs (which were like $100 EACH) just came in a cheap little white paper sleeve - we were told that we would get really nice DVD holders. I'm so annoyed right now.

That is what a chapterizied DVD is. If you click play all, it will, or you can chose which part you want to see, like a movie.

i think that is what a chaptered DVD is supposed to be, where you can only watch part of the DVD if you want to... but i see what you're saying that the whole recessional ( BMs, DH, you, etc) should all be on one chapter instead of being split up or whatever...
i would talk to them about it, maybe tell them how you would like the chapters split up... and maybe they can fix it for you. i would definitly ask about covers, too if it was in your contract....

There shouldn't be... you should be able to get to each section manually. Call them tomorrow. See if they can reedit it for you.

Chapters should be long segments i.e., Chapter 1 is prep, Chapter 2 is photo session prior to ceremony, Chapter 3 is ceremony, Chapter 4 is photo session after ceremony.....etc.

You should be able to play chapter by chapter or watch the full movie all the way through by clicking play DVD.

You have the edited chaptered DVD of your wedding.

I assume you are looking for the RAW footage of your wedding day. Raw footage is everything shot in your day. Edited is just the highlights.. Chapters are so you can skip ahead to key parts of your day and not fast forward though everything.

Play all will play all your chapters in order
it sounds like somthing you want chapter isnt chaptered

No, that does not sound right. With chapters you should be able to simply see the TOC for everything that is on the DVD.

It sounds like there are parts of the day on your DVD w/o a chapter notation.

Call them first thing and get your DVD packaging. There is no way you should pay $100 each for .10 sleeves Sleeves

I have the edited and chaptered version but I've previously viewed the edited (but not chaptered) version which had everything. It's kind of weird and DH figured out what's going on. Basically, you go to 'Here Comes the Bride' and it starts with me BUT if you REWIND the DVD, you see the processional. I'm not sure what that's all about - the way it's chaptered just doesn't make sense. I'm definitely going to call them tomorrow.

Seriously! I spent so much money on video and to send the DVDs to me in sleeves was a little ridiculous. I've been dealing with the assistant, so I'm going to get in touch with the owner tomorrow to let her know that we were so happy with the content of the DVD we received a few weeks ago but there were a few mistakes that needed to be corrected. Unfortunately, the DVD came back to us with many of the same mistakes and chapters split in incorrect places.

A chaptered DVD sounds to me like you should be able to skip to another chapter and you should be able to view the whole chapter not just a part of it, what is the point to have it in chapters if you have to play all to view the whole chapter?

it appears that he chapter it out of order...that is easy to fix as long as he still has the info. i would call him and explain to him its not in sequence.

another way of checking...look at the various chapters and on your Dvd player, display the time of the dvd. for exampler...chapter one should start at :01 seconds and chapter 2 should start in 3:00 mintues. I think you are seeing chapter 3 at 1:30 minutes which is out of order

Here's how the chapters work in my godawful wedding video DVD:

I can put the DVD in and it will play all the way through or I can select a chapter and watch that entire chapter. Our chapter icons are actually small boxes with video of the chapter itself in them, so you can basically watch the entire DVD in several boxes at the same time.

Each chapter has a name, 'Vows,' 'Cocktail Hour,' and my favorite names '5' and '7' -- I guess he ran out of words to describe the 90 minutes of footage he took at my five hour reception.

Yours doesn't sound right. Ask them to re-do the chapters to get exactly what you want.
