My aunt is breastfeeding a baby, but she has never been pregnant. Its a long story...but supposedly she went to the doctor and they did something and she is now breastfeeding her girlfriends baby. I didn't think you could breastfeed unless you have been pregnant. Just curious!!

Re: Can this be done??
Seem like it CAN be done. This si what I found online.
'Although not widely known in developed countries, women who have never been pregnant are able to lactate and therefore breastfeed as well. If their nipples are stimulated in a breastfeeding manner for a while (such as a breast pump or an actual baby suckling), eventually the breasts will begin to produce milk which can be used to feed a baby. For this reason, adoptive mothers, usually initially in conjuction with some form of supplementation, are able to breastfeed their infants. (There is also anecdotal evidence for male lactation [1]).' http://www.fact-index.com/b/br/breastfeeding.html

Re: Can this be done??
I saw this being done on TLC's A Baby Story The parents had a surrogate & the Mom went to the doctor so she can nurse their baby. I thought it was so wild.

Re: Can this be done??
That is pretty interesting, but I have to ask, why isn't her girlfriend breastfeeding her own baby??? I'm confused. I can understand doing it if you adopted your child, but to have someone ELSE breastfeed your child seems 'different' to me... what's the point? Just asking out of curiosity... I think this is interesting nonetheless...
