So I am very close to having to give my final address list to my invitation vendor. I have 127 invitations (I originally ordered 150 invites and then panicked and upped it to 165---stupid...I guess I can wallpaper my new apt with them). I added some columns and did a little magic and it turned out in terms of people that means were are inviting 252!!
Then I estimated how many I thought would come, and it's 170, which is BANG! Our minimum!
It just seems like a lot that we'll have 28% of people say no. I lot of people are OOT semi distant relatives. Like I pretty much assumed that FH's family from FL and CA would not come at all, but that the people in CT, PA, etc would come. Friends are pretty much all invited with guests, but I assumed that people who don't have SO's would NOT bring a guest.
Does that seem reasonable or am I deluding myself and I'm going to have 240 people at this wedding?

You know your list best so I would assume you are probably estimating right.
They typically say 20% drop off for any type of event. With our list we know people aren't coming for the same reasons as you oot.
Your estimate is probably very close! A few people may surprise you by their answer

I had invited a lot of OOT guests and had a greater than 20% no rate.

The thing is every wedding/group of people is different...just cross your fingers! I made a B list because I was terrified I would have more people than I want or can comfortably afford.

I showed the list to FH and he thinks my esitmates are good and that actually fewer than that are coming. There are handful of relatives who are elderly and probably won't come. I also realized that some of my friends who are out of the country a lot probably won't come. So we might actually come under our minimum, but we can supplement it with work people.

this is something my fh and i are worried about!
The majority of the 200 guest list are friends from around li, which I cant see not showing up for the wedding and there are only few OOT guests.
i was hoping for 20% no rate but worried that this may not be happening.
has this happened to anyone that invited and only 2 guests said no?!!?!

We did the same thing! Can always invite more but can't take bak once they are invited

It totally depends on your OOT guests. I kept telling my FH that my whole family was coming. He kept figuring most of my guests would be no. Well 99% of my OOT guests have already bought tickets to come! You need to know your guests. So since these are FH's family I would ask him, he should be able to guess. Don't assume based on your own feelings.

We'll have been together for 12 years on our wedding day, so I know FH's family. My estimates were pretty good. I'm just worried. Do people make corrs country trips for cousin's weddings?

it really depends. there were times where i went to an OOT wedding and I wasn't even close to the family member. Sometimes it depends on people's budgets and what's going on with their lives. But like you said, if you're short, you have your coworkers to fill in..and if not, there are some fab LIW girls

Ughhhh, we have random 3-4 times removed relatives that are 'supposedly' (according to my grandma) flying in from ISRAEL!!
FH and I would NEVER do this for anyone's wedding that far away, so this blows our minds!
We have the same situation with people from Germany, Cali, and other distant places.
I hope they don't show!!

I have no idea about this stuff. We have a good amount of FH's family OOT...I would say about 20 people...we are inviting like 290 and our minimum is 225 but I think most of the rest of the guest will come...I am thinking we will have right around our guranteed since some of the people with guests will probably come solo.
I am actually concerned that I won't have the guaranteed now!

This is what i am doing too... sending invite out early so i can send out B list with enough time
