Can we get a better search feature PLEASE .... ????

The search feature on this site is no doubt the worst search engine I have ever used on any website.

(And I have been to HUNDREDS of forums)



First off... it desperately needs a title or subject only search.

If the whole point of this site is to make money... then it only makes sense to make information easier for people to find.

If I want to search for example... limo companies... I put in the search field LIMO.

Well since there is no title search... I get a bunch of totally useless hits... like the person said 'Yeah my brother went to a bachelor party last night and a limo picked him up'. That is useless information.

A title search would be perfect here because if someone put LIMO in the subject... most likely I will get the hits like 'Limo recommendations'... 'which limo did you book'... 'Royalty Limosuine any good???'... etc..



Then just now I just wanted to do a search for a doctor recommendation... and I put in DOCTOR in the search field.

After waiting a minute for the search to work... it now tells me 'Please search for words and/or phrases that are not marked as ignored words'

W-T-F??????

Ahhh... one more rant.

For the hits that do come up in the search field... why can't we get the results 'THREADED'.

Using my previous example... doing a search for Limo... if there is a thread that is a good 2-3 pages long... its possible the word limo was used in almost all those posts.

Instead of getting one nice hit to the thread... i get 20-30 hits to the same thread. Doesn't make any sense because a click to any of those hits will bring you to the same thread.


Its a shame that even though, this website has an abundance of good information archived, there is no real practical way to find it.

I actually love the search engine on this site! It is the BEST! Try going to theknot.com and searching for anything - absolutely nothing relevant comes up.

Theknot is crap as well. But like I said before... this site desperately needs a title or subject only search.

And actually... the problem with the search engine on this site is TOO much information comes up.

IMO thats just as bad as nothing coming up.

I agree Ron, please make it better. also I would love whenI search for my name that only the post that I started come up, not each and every single one I posted on.
