Can you believe FH grandma? VENT

So our RSVP date was over 2 weeks ago October 1st. Yesterday we finally get her RSVP in the mail and she states ' 0 will be attending, see note enclosed.' The note states how she will be 'out of the country on vacation and will not be able to attend the wedding'!!! Ummm.. Hello you received our save the date magnet over 1 year ago!! FH is so pissed!! What an a$$!! Just goes to show you who your real family is!! I just can only wish my grandma was still alive to come to our wedding. Okay vent over!!

awww sweetie ~ I hear ya ~ I actually had an aunt say the same thing to me ~ she recieved a STD magnet over a year ago but she had her vacation to the bahamas planned for the last 6 months... go figure! It hurts but it will get better after you are all married and your FH's grandma will be the one that missed out on this special day!

I completely agree with Mooshyboo, its stinks when family of all people do it to you. Try not to let it get to both of you-she will be missing out on a very special day in his life and no one is to blame other then her

omg that is horrible!! You both have every right to be upset!!
Its not even like its some distant aunt or something..its his grandma!!! None of our grandparents came because the ones who are still alive are all too old to travel, but we know they definitely would have been there if they could!

OMG! I can't even fathom the idea of my grandparents doing that. ...or any grandparents for that matter.
My grandparents (only living ones btwn both of us) had some rough patches with health in the last 2 years and they credit there being well right now with their motivation to get well for our wedding.

Is FH close with his grandmother?

I feel you. My only grandparent decided he couldn't come because he was afraid to travel. Acceptable.
But what isn't acceptable is how many of my relatives couldn't 'afford' to come.
I sent STD back in Jan, and they all knew last October when it was planned. You can't save $5 a month to drive to NY from MA?!!
I was insulted, I ended up with 12 people from my family at my wedding (and 7 didn't bring a gift or even a card!). Yet over 40 friends from even farther away. You really see a bad side of people at these things.

There have been issues in the family since FH's grandpa died 2 years ago, estate issues, etc. It's still the point that it's her grandson and all issues regarding whatever they are should be laid aside. The family issues had/have nothing to do with FH. I just can't get over the nerve of this woman!!!

Oh I hear that. My grandfather on my dad's side passed away last year and all his siblings are currently divided now b/c of the estate issues. He's the only neutral one. They're all coming to the wedding but we had to separate a lot of them.
