In a book I was skimming I noticed things with sugar being pointed out as not vegan, so I looked into why:

Almost all regular sugar contains horse and cattle bones and bone marrow! They use the bones to help sift and process the sugar and make it free of ground matter.

EWWWWWW!!!

Thank god I buy unprocessed sugar...blah

WHAT!!!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME??? I HAVE BEEN A VEGETARIAN FOR 14 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT ONE AND THAT IS THE GROSSEST THING EVER!!! sometimes you can't win no matter how friggin hard you try!!! and it sux.

is unprocessed sugar the same thing as that 'sugar in the raw' stuff?
