Can you believe this

FI's friend Jay his wife Michelle who i barely know invited me to her sisters baby shower. I didnt even know her sisters name till recently and I got an invite to the baby shower. And there is a wishing well.

I told FI and he said 'talk about someone desperate for gifts'

I am not going. I have a standing appointment. Its on a Thursday night and Thursday night is league bowling nigt.

Gee...sounds like they didnt have enough people to invite. I dont know how though. My mom had trouble keeping the list down

Fi is just really convinced either this girl has no friends and a small family so they invited a lot of people so she'll have a big party or just desperate for gifts.

I was once invited to a baby shower for a woman who worked for me. She knew that was having a little girl. The shower was being given by her mother. On the inside of the invitation was printed, not even handwritten, the following:

'This baby is loved and will be blessed
With grandparents who want her to have the best.

She already has everything that she needs
So instead of a gift, give cash or checks please.'

This was about 8 years ago and I was so shocked that I still remember this little poem. Not only did I not attend the shower (which I wouldn't have done anyway since I was her supervisor), but I also did not send or give a gift. Talk about tasteless and rude. I have never before or since gotten an invitation like that one.

Wendy, that is a classic. I have an even better story. A coworker of my sisters, years ago. threw her OWN shower !! ANDDDDD. in the invitation she had a business card from Citibank with her account number on it, so guests can deposit money right into her account !! I KID YOU NOT !!! This was the joke of my family for at least a year !!
and my sister told her she couldnt make it (this girl was nuts ! my sister had problems with the girls mom, a travel agent, who wouldnt give my sis back money when she had to cancel a trip!! and her daughter referred my sis to her !!) well on the day of the shower, she (the girl) called my sis saying 'are you sure you cant make it ? come !!!'

OK, now does my story top the cake ???

Anna I am sitting here with my mouth hanging open. That beats my story any day of the week. What are these people thinking anyway? Have they no shame? Whew!
