Can you believe this? (venting)

A couple of weeks ago, I started sending emails to different vendors about live ceremony music. I asked about having a string quartet, the costs, etc.

I got a quote from a vendor telling me: 'You understand that the quartet will cost 1K; if not, talk to these two other vendors (A & B). I'm sure their prices are cheaper.'

I didn't like that response. Why did they assume all of a sudden that I couldn't afford them?

Has any of this ever happen to you guys with any vendor?

Hmmmm......that was rude to say the least! I would not use them now just because of that comment! I feel that some vendors forget that first impressions last a lifetime and if they give me a bad first impression I won't consider them! Don't let them get to you there is somebody better and more respectful out there for you!

wow, how rude. I booked Sarah Chamberlian classical ensembles ( vendor on here).
It's' a violin, viola, cello and flute.
She's the Flutist. She was very nice to work with. If you would be willing to have a flute, instead of just strings give here a try.

Perhaps the email wasn't meant to be rude....the vendor knows they are more expensive then their competition and obviously don't compromise on price. They may have just been being helpful.

But if would've been rude if they assumed you couldn't pay for them.

Well, he's probably used to people telling him to take a hike because 1000K for a quartet is steep. I'm a musician and I would not DARE charge someone that much for a coctail hour . I get the impression he knew he was overcharging and just didn't care. I'm bothered at the stiffness in price.

I had emailed this person to ask for prices for one hour of ceremony music for my church. I basically asked the vendor to email me prices for a string trio or quartet to perform at my church.

I didn't ever mention how much I'd be willing to pay, since I didn't have a clue what the going rate was. I think it was just rude the way this person assumed I couldn't pay for their services. And not only that, but they actually recommending other companies by name? Their own competition? I don't know...

Anyways, thanks for your support! I will update you soon about who I end up choosing for my ceremony music.

I had a photgrapher do this over the phone. I was even more insulted because it was a low price, and they just assumed that I would not spend that money. They told me that their cheapest package is $2,300 and I should call them back if I could afford them. Well, I had planned to spend a lot more on photos so I do not know why they would say that to me. these vendors can be real jerks sometimes. I hope that you will not hire someone who talks to you that way.
