Can you brides to be help me out

Can you brides to be help me out

I no longer have my RH contract and need someone to look at theirs for me

DH's best friend called of his wedding for 2013 last month. He called the hall today and asked for his money back. He was under the assumption that you can get back any money you paid except the deposit.

Can someone check their contract and see if it says it there in the fine print.

If anyone wants the name of the hall in specific FM me.... if anyone wants to have a wedding on a Sunday night in Oct/Nov 2013 it was either Columbus day weekend or Veteren's Weekend [can't remember the exact date but can find out] FM and I will tell you what hall is now open

Thanks all

Where does your friend live? I believe in Suffolk County if you cancel 6 months prior your wedding date you should get all your money back but $100.

This is what mine says...

In the event Patron cancels the function, all deposits and advanced payments shall be retained by (venue), until such time as contracted Banquet room is resold for a comparable function. If the Event is cancelled within 15 days of the function, Patron will be held responsible for the full payment of the guaranteed number of guests. Any contract that is cancelled is subject to a nonrefundable $500 cancellation fee for processing and bookkeeping.

Not sure if that helps...

it does help but doesn't help him out

We figured he wasn't getting any money back but since it is not until 2013 we were kinda wishing that there was a loop hole

The hall is in Nassau County and he lives in Queens

I just recently had to change halls (long story mothers insane) and the previous hall is wonderful enough to give our deposite back...have him talk to the hall, and he would have to write a letter due to 'unforseeable circumstances' and state you would like some money back since they are giving a way in advanced notice.

Did he leave a deposit or leave more than that? He should be entitled to some money. He would have to read his contract. Not sure what Nassau laws are but Suffolk county laws oversee the contract. Due to it so far in advance they should be able to find someone else to fill the spot and then they should return his deposit.

is the venue in Suffolk county???? b/c there is a suffolk county law that if a contract is canceled 6months or more from the date, you can get everything back minus $100. look into it!!!!

In Suffolk County, every hall has to follow the specified law as far as catered events goes. If its outside of 6 months from the event, the hall must refund everything except for $100. If it is within 6 months, you should get a percentage back depending on how close you cancel.

Nassau does not have any reimbursement law the way Suffolk county does. However, most RH's would give back the money if someone can book that date. Mine says something along the lines like that. Now, if the vendors are booked - they should look into that as well.
