Can you drink, while breastfeeding?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but for some reason I remember reading somewhere that you can but you have to wait a certain amount of hours before you can breastfeed the baby safely.

The reason I am asking is because I having been craving a Bloody Mary for 4+ months and DH said after the baby is born he going to bring me a Bloody Mary to the hospital.

I personally don't. but I know some of my friends who have. Not rip roaring drunk but a couple of drinks. I would ask the lactation consultant in the hospital because in the beginning there is no milk just colostrum so maybe it's safe.

My friends who do ndulge on occasion, express their milk and chuck it

I did have a few sips of wine on a few occasions. I am not sure about a bloody mary because of the horseradish in it. It may be one of those foods that affects the breastmilk enough to make the baby gassy. Things like that are trial and error.

I had a friend that did this as well.

I remember during my BFing class, the instructor used the phrase 'pump and dump' if you've been drinking. She said the baby should drink EBM to be on the 'safe' side.
