I am on Trinessa (the generic version of Ortho Tri Cyclen). Was on OTC for over 2 yrs til they came out with the generic. During the last few mid points of my cycles...could have sworn I was ovulating...don't want to give TMI, but you know what I mean.
Am i nuts?

I was under the impression that yes you do still ovulate (I dont think there is a way to stop that) but that BC has levels off hormones that make your body think that you are not preggo therefor shedding the lining immediatly.
Have I thought wrong all my life?

I was under the impression BC suppressed ovulation...OR made the it virtuaklly impossible for the egg to be fertilized because certain fluids are too thick....
Or is it that BC mimics pregnancy and therefore 'tricks' your body into thinking you're pregnant but really not.....

As far a I know, your body still ovulates it just that the pill does something with the hormones that doesn't allow for implantation, so the uturis sheds....I THINK???

This too is what I think. If you didn't ovulate, then how is it that some people do get pregnant while on the pill?

The pill stops your body from ovulating and also thickens the cervical mucous. When you are pregnant your body does not ovultae because then you could have multiple pregnancies at different stages etc. So the pill makes your body think it is pregnant preventing ovulation. If People get pregnant on the pill it might be due to not taking it for a few days or not at the same time.
