the only song they can't play is unchained melody. my little sister runs out of the room when she hears it.

When it comes to DO Play lists... keep in mind that you will have between 50-60 songs played at a reception, less if you are having garter toss, boquet toss, anniversary dance, cake cutting, speeches, etc. Try not to give the dj too long of a 'Do Play' list because there is no way he will be able to get to all of them.

As for 'Do Not' Play
For mine it's

No group dances- chicken, macarena, hora, etc.
'What a Wonderful World'- FH's first wedding song and well, it wasn't so wonderful
'Celebration'
'We are Family'
'Hey, Yah'- I no I'm in the minority but that sing goes up and down my spine...
I know we have a few others but it's mostlu 'no group dances'

I'm struggling with this too. There are certain songs on my DO NOT PLAY list though that if my DJ plays, I will walk out of my own wedding:

YMCA
Celebration
Celebrate (Madonna)
It's Raining Men
I Will Survive

I agree...I've read a lot of reviews on here that brides have been upset b/c the band didn't play all of the songs they requested, meanwhile they're handing the band 20-30 songs on their 'must play' list.

It's better to have a 'do not play' list and a short 'play' list. That way the band will choose their songs, and when they do so they will choose the ones that they know and like best, which will lead to a better performance. JMO

I don't have the full list here, it's at home, but from what I can recall, we did a Do Not Play, a Do Play and a Suggested Play List. Someone else mentioned it too - I wouldn't provide a list longer than 5 or 6 MUST PLAY songs. For the others, just put them on a suggested play list. Chances are a number of them will be played but it will also give the entertainment an idea of what type of music you're looking for.

MUST PLAY
Poison - Bel Biv Devoe
One of 3 biggie songs (can't remember which three we specified)
Here and Now - Luther Vandross
In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
Party Up (Up in Here) - DMX

DO NOT PLAY
macarena
any celene dion
any britney EXCEPT Toxic (this was on the suggested play list)
ymca
cotton eyed joe
electric slide
hands up
oh what a night
celebration
we are family

can't remember the rest - if i remember, I'll check the list and post the rest when i get home.
