Can you tell me about your tasting?

Can you tell me about your tasting?

So I had my tasting last night....

I thought the point of it was to taste the different dinners so that you can decide which you like and which you don't like so you can chose which to have at your wedding. But here is what he brought out:

- some fruits, cheeses, veggies with dip and tomato and fresh mozzeralla (whatever, fruit is fruit..why do I need to taste that!)

- about 7 items from the trays the butlers carry (there are about 20 of these on the actual day)

- about 6 items from the Italian station ONLY of the cocktail hour

- one dessert

I don't expect them to cook me every item from the menu, but I though that we were going to be able to taste the items from the dinner menu so we can make an educated decision! I have to say I was very disappointed - the stuff they gave us was the same exact stuff that they gave us when we were just LOOKING at the place. (I thought it was really nice then, but this time I was expecting way more.)

So what happened at your tasting (or will happen). Am I asking too much? I am paying them thousands and thousands of dollars for dinner, they can't let me tatse it first?

TIA!

at my tasting..

we had... drinks..

a bread basket..

a tray of appetizers from the cold station..

eggplant.. mozzarella & tomatos.. marinated mushrooms.. some other stuff like that .. I don't really remember because I didn't eat it.

Then.. we got.. filet mignon, chicken and salmon .. 1 piece of each for everyone (There were 6 of us)

Then we got 12 desserts.. 2 of each for everyone..
one was like a heart shaped tartufo and one was an ice cream roll wrapped with nuts and syrup.

I went to tastings at two locations. At the first, we received salad, a family style tray of 6 dinner selections, and they had a chocolate fountain. At the second one, we received a tray of appetizers and then three entress they were serving at a party happening that day.

I think you definitely should ask to taste as sampling of some of the entrees, I don't think it's too much to ask at all.

Thanks ladies!

I thought it was weird. And when I did say ask when I was there, he was like, 'No, we're not making you everything on the menu. This is just so you know that our food is good.'

So weird. I guess I will call and ask again.

Can anyone else tell me about yours?

Thanks!

Michelle--I totally think that is weird. I would call and talk to them about it.

Yea that doesn't sound right. We had a sample plate of some of the butler passed horse durves (sp?) an appetizer and 4 sample entrees. We also tried the wine and some mixed drinks.

The point really is to taste the meals. At least I think it is

Every single thing was free

First we could have anything we wanted to drink.

We started off with Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto, and Basil layered with tomato and grilled eggplant with Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Then I believe we had Penne Ala Vodka

Then we had a salad.

Then we each had a serving of all...

Chicken Cordon Bleu
Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp
Chateau Briand
and Filet of Sole I think..

Then we had pastries and cookies!

It was one of the best times out to eat ever! and I brought 7 other people!

CLM has the BEST tastings ever. We came in and got drinks, then one of the appeteizer choices, then salad of our choice, then a HUGE tray of like 6 different entree choices (stuffed jumbo shrimp, chicken cordon bleu, filet mignon, chateaubriand, and salmon), then you get pastries and cookies and coffee for dessert.

It gave us a really good idea of what the food was going to be like and it helped us to choose our menu too!

Have you been to one... they have a lot of the food set up to taste- its really yummy! I agree it stinks to not have a true tasting- but the showcases has basically everything...!

Re: Can you tell me about your tasting?

My tasting was Saturday and it was WAY more than I ever expected!

It was my party of 4 (FH, MOH, MOH’s hubby and me). We were the only people in the ballroom and we had our own waitress and an attendant. I felt very special!

They served us any beverage we wanted – I had white wine, FH had beer, MOH had rum and coke and her DH had vodka tonic. We had a bread basket and then they offered us several 1st course choices – penne pasta with plugra butter cream, bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp scampi over saffron risotto cakes. We were given 2 types of salad with goat cheese crostini – one with a citrus vinaigrette and one with a balsamic vinaigrette. They gave us SEVEN Entrees! Big huge portions too! Filet Mignon, Chilean Sea Bass, Cornmeal Seared Salmon, Swordfish steak, Chicken Sorrentino, horseradish crusted chicken cutlets in a gorgonzola cream sauce and French cut stuffed chicken. All were served with twice baked potatoes and string bean and baby carrot bundles. Everything was soo good and it totally confirmed for me that I had made the right choice in reception halls!

I honestly think you should call them and let them know that you are having a difficult time planning your menu since you really have no idea what the entrees taste like!

We only tasted the CH food too @ WCC. It was great! But we did think it was weird that we didn't get to taste the entrees. But we had heard so many good things about WCC that we didn't really worry about it after we had tasted the CH food. What RH are you using? I hope it works out for you.

We got to taste a variety of the passed HD's, some of what will be at the tuscan table, three entree's and dessert.

You should call them and speak with someone about this. If they weren't going to give you some entrees to taste they should have at least made that clear.

We had food that we're not even having at the wedding. A lot of fried stuff like Moz sticks.

Caprese, duck, chicken, beef. Sorbets for desserts. Not a wide array.

I am not sure how possible it is for them to serve everything. I think it is more for you to know that they can cook a variety of food that doesn't stink. He he he.

Re: Can you tell me about your tasting?

Thanks girls! I appreciate the responses. I don't expect them to serve me every single thing that will be at the wedding, but at least a sampling would have been nice. Maybe what they were serving at the wedding.

Honestly, part of me is concerned because someone said that they know someone who went to a wedding there and the dinner wasn't great. I know there is always someone...but you know it's going to worry you!

I will call them tomorrow and let you know what they say!

Keep the info coming though...the more of you who say you were able to taste, the more ammo I have!

Fox Hollow doesn't do tastings- they invite you to dinner at their restaurant and take care of drinks and dessert.
