Can you tell me about your tasting?

So I had my tasting last night....

I thought the point of it was to taste the different dinners so that you can decide which you like and which you don't like so you can chose which to have at your wedding. But here is what he brought out:

- some fruits, cheeses, veggies with dip and tomato and fresh mozzeralla (whatever, fruit is fruit..why do I need to taste that!)

- about 7 items from the trays the butlers carry (there are about 20 of these on the actual day)

- about 6 items from the Italian station ONLY of the cocktail hour

- one dessert

I don't expect them to cook me every item from the menu, but I though that we were going to be able to taste the items from the dinner menu so we can make an educated decision! I have to say I was very disappointed - the stuff they gave us was the same exact stuff that they gave us when we were just LOOKING at the place. (I thought it was really nice then, but this time I was expecting way more.)

So what happened at your tasting (or will happen). Am I asking too much? I am paying them thousands and thousands of dollars for dinner, they can't let me tatse it first?

I haven't had my tasting yet, but from what I'm told we basically get to try the dinner entrees that the bride that day had selected. We don't get to pick the ones we want to taste, it's whatever is on the menu that day. I'm really surprised you weren't offered dinner entrees to taste... ?? Isn't that the main attraction?

That doesn't sound right. At our food tasting, we tried all 6 entrees. We did have a food tasting while a wedding was being held. so everything was already being prepared.

At my tasting at EW they had some of the entrees they provide. They have their bridal shows that has the cocktail hour food samplings.

At our tasting we sampled some of the appetizers and a couple of the entree choices, and then a couple of yummy desserts. We didn't actually try anything that we will be having to make a decision about...I did think that was kind of weird, but the maitre d explained it was more a chance to make sure you like the food in general and to meet the chef...
its a little unconventional but as long as the food was good at your RH, I'm sure you can't go wrong..

At my tasting they brought out the wines they put on each table, the champagne, salad, and the entrees the wedding that was going on at the time selected. They then brought out cookies, pastries, and fruit after. They were really accomodating though and brought out anything we asked. For example, my FMIL didn't want her salad, and they knew she liked greek salad, so they brought her out a greek salad. They really just want you to get a sense for how the food is served and presented and how the cooking is overall. And we got to meet the Maitre'd.

I haven't had my tasting yet but, we get to bring up to 8 people and we get to order exactly what we want to taste. We are pretty much going to sit down and have dinner. I am bringing my parents, my 2 sisters and my best friend, so inlcuding FH & I that is 7 people. We each plan to order different items so we can share and taste as much as possible.
