I think Montreal is an amazing place! My FH took me there for my b-day last winter and we had an amazing time! The great thing is that there is so much to do. We are also into fine dining and there are so many nice restaurants to eat at in Montreal. The nightlife is also great, it is very European with lots of cafes and bars. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and we absolutely loved every minute of it. The staff at the Ritz is extremely polite and they even upgraded our room for us at no extra charge. I think Montreal is a great choice for a honeymoon.!!!

Edited to add that there are also a lot of museums to go to and there is also a casino about 10 min out of the city. The people are also very nice! It is one of the few places that I have been to that I would go back to.

Re: Canada for Honeymoon

We just went to Canada last fall, and I fell in love with Quebec. I liked Montreal too, but growing up near NYC I guess I'm spoiled!

Quebec was gorgeous - very French all around. Most residents ARE french, their buildings are beautiful and it's quite romantic. Not too much to do from what I remember, but you could also see both cities - Quebec is about a 3 1/2 hr drive from Montreal.

We were married just after 9/11 and went to Quebec as part of our honeymoon. It was beautiful, especially the old city. Be prepared to do a lot of walking(parking is tough) and wear comfy shoes because the old city is very hilly. Unfortunately it rained (torrential downpours) every day we were there so there were some things that we did not do. But I would recommend it highly.
