Canceling a vendor

Canceling a vendor

I need help...I booked a vendor that was a LIvendor, but is no longer. At first I read reviews that were fantastic, but recently I found some that were not so hot...I contacted the vendor and let them explain the situation to me, and I am ok with the responce...however if someone posted negative things about one of your vendors and you really like their sample work what would you do? would you cancel? I am undecided...FH said it is totally up to me. I am just a tad bit nervous because I have started to take what you ladies say very seriously, so any help or advise would be appreciated...I still have 10months, but if I wait any longer I'm afraid to see what would happen!

I don't want to fire somebody..it's christmas!

thanks ladies
Connie
ps it is a pretty important item

Re: Canceling a vendor

i'm sure most vendors have at least a FEW negative reviews - it must be nearly impossible to please every bride, 100% all the time.

however, if there were consistently bad reviews and I wasn't 100% sure of their samples, i might cancel.

It depends on the vendor. From what I know, it takes quite a lot for LIW to remove someone from the vendor list, unless the vendor asks to be removed. Some vendors, when they start out are very very good, and then get overbooked from the massive amounts of referrals and no longer produce quality work. Others just get a random bad review b/c you can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

If this was a vendor that had consistent bad reviews AND those bad reviews were all recent, I think I would consider cancelling and finding someone else. However, if it was one or two bad reviews, I don't think I would cancel them.

All that said, if it is a certain florist that appeared on CBS Shame on You in October, I would cancel.

I think you should give it a few days and think about it. If it' only 1 or2 neg reviews than thats not so bad. Every vendor is going to have some bad reviews. If you love them and there work I would stay with them

I agree....I'd also check the Better Business Bureau to see what's been said on that. And FM brides that have posted the good and bad reviews to see exactly what happened.

For curiosity sake can you FM me what vendor and what it is?

Re: Canceling a vendor

There were some negative reviews about my florist a few months before my wedding, but I went with my gut and still went with her. My flowers were AMAZING. I keep showing my proofs to different people and some of the first things they comment on are how beautiful my flowers were. I haven't written my review yet, but when I do I will have nothing but rave reviews for her.

Every vendor is going to have positive and negative reviews, you have to weigh each one to see if the person reviewing just percieved a bad experience or they truely had a bad experience. And most importantly trust yourself and your judgement.

Feel free to FM if you are using the same person that I'm talking about!

Re: Canceling a vendor

I am having the same problem, but with my reception hall. I LOVE the place, but read a really bad review and freaked out. I was ready to call and cancel so my FI called and spoke to someone and they said the person who was in charge at this particular wedding is no longer working there. I have a list of all the problems that I am aware of and I am going to have a meeting with the new manager to make sure I don't have the same problems. If I hadn't put such a large deposit down I would have been very close to cancelling!!! Good luck with your vendor-if you talk to them I am sure they will explain themselves.

You can't really please everyone, so people amy have anegaive complaint for something petty, take a ratio of positive to negative ratios and if there is more positive then go for it. Also keep in mind that you experience with a vendor may be different form someone else

Re: Canceling a vendor

I always weigh what the reasons were for negative reviews...were they just slight errors? Large? the same one all the time? lots of little errors that could have been just that bride?

If it was the vendor that was on Shame on You then I'd FM brides and see what the whole scoop is (tho with some reviews you see it was clearly a vendor failing to do their job)

Look at how much you have paid them and what someone else will cost. If you seriously think you want to break your contract I'd shop for a replacement first and consider your options...go with your gut. If you want, cancel after the holidays are over- you said that you have the time! Good luck!

I can't tell you ladies how much it means to have all of this feed back! I truely appreciate all of it! I will let you know what we decide by the end of the week..I am going to weigh out the pros and cons like some of you have suggested! I FMed some past brides that used the company and I am getting back great feedback that is very reassuring! (This wasn't the vendor on the CBS special!)
again thanks for everything and I will get back to you all by the end of the week!
