Fh and I talked about it and decided to cancel our RH, there is no way we would be able to afford it and I was already feeling way too stressed out about it. So, since I have a few family members in Florida and it is close enough we decided to have a DW, hopefully there. It is more our style anyway, laid back on the beach, etc.. I am really excited and think it was a great decision.
But, now I have to start all over again trying to find a place. If anyone knows of a good resort type hotel in Fl, they can recommend , please do. Have you gone to any DW there and how was it?

Where in FL are you looking? If you're close enough to the keys, they have some beautiful weddings down there.

Miami or the Keys. I just don't know if the Keys are hard to get to.?

If we wind up going through with the wedding at all. We were thinking Miami or the keys as well....!
Look at the Hyatt in the keys its beaudiful... My mother stayed there she said it was wonderful and there were wedding going on and said they were great as well.....HTH

If you are looking into Key West, there is an airport there. Although it can be a bit expensive to fly into, it may be worthwhile -the drive down from Miami is pretty straightforward but it will take you roughly 4 hours or so. Key West is one of my fave places, but if you want something more in the Miaimi area, I would look into the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables - it is beautiful!

I saw your other post. Try not to get to stressed, your iance probably just thinks he has time and doesn't need to get serious yet. Yoiu should sit down and try to work out a budget that is realistic and that you can both stick to. My Fh recently got a motorcycle too and I was not thrilled. But, he is working very hard to make this wedding happen so I couldn't complain. Just communicate with him and it will all work out . GL

I was thinking it eould be a bit too far for a drive, but I was thinking like 45min-1hr. Thanks for the heads up!
I just looked at the Venetian Pool, that place is beyond gorgeous.

I'm not sure what they have to offer as far as weddings go, but you might want to look into the upper keys, as opposed to Key West. Key Biscayne is only about 45 minutes from Miami, or you could venture a little further down to Key Largo, as well as other lesser known keys.

We went to a destination wedding in Miami this past November that was beautiful. It was at the National Hotel with an after party at the shore club. We had a great time!

Hi! We are having a DW on St. John, USVI. It's the best decision we ever made. 30 guests are coming and we get to vacation with our friends and family for a long weekend.

Thanks for all the input, I am finding that most places in Fl are just as much as having it here. But the head count will be much lower.

I'm not sure about DW places but I wanted to say Congrats! I wanted to do a destination wedding originally buy plans change....
If you google destintion weddings there are a lot of sites that are dedicated to dw. And some resorts give you a free wedding if you choose them. Good luck!

Well, I am having a bit of a communication issue with the cancelled RH. They only want to give back our $2,500 deposit if they rebook it, but I was told differently when I booked. So, we will see what happens with that. It was only 6 weeks so I think it is rediculous.
Now I am looking into Puerto Rico for a DW. It is soo beautiful, plus that is where both of my parents and a lot of my family is from. I have much research to do. If anyone has any input on PR that would be great. TIA
