Cancun Honeymooners-News here

Hi Everyone,

I work for American Express Vacations/Travel Impressions. I just wanted to let you all know that Cancun is a disaster. We are not selling any vacations there until next year. They are hoping to have everything built up again by Christmas, but it does not look like it is going to happen. The hotel strip is just in shambles.

I am going to share a pdf file with you guys, which is available online, so you can check the status of your hotel. I hope it helps.

My cheesy 'travel agent' who I'm NEVER going to use again kept tring to convince me to reschedule my trip to Mexico for later this week! Yeah right!

My sister was in Cancun when the hurricane hit and she finally got home yesterday. She said she seriously thinks shes going to need therapy. She had to pay $1000 out of her pocket for a flight home out of Merida Mexico and then another $200 for a hotel in Mexico City since her connection wasn't until the next day. She slept on a floor, unshowered for 4 nights. I feel so bad for her. Her vacation that was ruined cost her $3000 and her travel agent said she 'will see' if she can refund her.

My travel agent also said 'oh they rebuild quickly - look at Emily' but Emily did not do the same amount of damage....

Thanks for the info; I've been working with my travel agent to relocate my honeymoon, and I was feeling a little bit guilty to be hassling her so much about changing it. But now I know we really have to!
