For those of you who are going to Cancun on your honeymoon!!!
And might I add the following is my humble opinion...i learned teh hard way this trip that suggestions on where to eat are VERY subjective
1) Cenacolo's [Italian] Plaza Kukulcan
Very nice Italian restaurant...looks are decieving as they are doing major contruction and it is part of a shopping mall but the food is delicious. A little taste of godo new york italian food in a mexican city. We went there the 1st and last night. First night i had the canneloni..stuffed with meat and cheese ...im sure it was good but i wasnt still feeling well from the flight. PJ had their 'little green hats'...like a ravioli stuffed with spinach i think and in a butter sauce..i had a bite, V.Good!
Next time I had penne in a cream tomato sauce with goat cheese...it melts in your mouth! PJ had fresh fetticini with bolognese sauce...the pasta was liek ribbon- so light and thin. I would fly back for some more.
Prices are typical for italian here- a plain pasta dish ranges from 12- 16 dollars or 120- 160 pesos.... they also make fresh pizza..evry think crust and rustic tasting. definitly reccomend Cenacolo for a nice candlelit dining experience

Re: Cancun Restaurant reviews
La Destileria: over 150 brands of tequila! Mexican cuisine, even a small tequila museum
We went with a group of 36...yes, 36! FFIL's cousins go to cancun every year and 1 night we all get together to eat so its a big mix
so basically we started off on the wrong foot by driving the waiters crazy.
Menu wasnt good for me since i dont like spicy foods and almost everything had some form or chili or pepper in it. I ordered the spinach and pear salad with balsamic glaze to share with pj and the red fish- steamed fish with tomatoes on top.
salad was icky- something was just off about it for me and a friend but PJ thought it was great.
my fish was delicious but it was so hot and steamy i could barely touch it until everyone else had finished.
i do have good thoughts on their flavored margaritas- i had strawberry and fmil had peach...very sweet but still enough edge from the tequila
prices were average for a cancun restaurant- my salad was 80 pesos and the fish was 180 pesos.....
Oh but it has a great view looking over the lagoon....we went at sunset and i hope the picture came out...i shoudl have it up later in the week
If you want a romantic and magical dinner...THIS is the place.
Its located about a 40 minute ride into downtown cancun ...so while it might look like you are in a shady party of mexico, i actually love it cause its the real cancun noone sees by staying by the hotels. (ps about a block away is a beautiful church...white and bright at nightime and doors always open..i was moved)
La Habichuela takes reservations and you definitly need one cause its very popular and you want to have an outdoor seat!
when you walk inside (or outside rather cause the waiting area is indeed outdoors, you will see lots of mayan decorations and a huge fishtank. thats just the beginning.
outside eating area is truly magical, i always stare up at the trees and lights.
Oh yeah, the food is great too. they have a big range of foods
i had coconut fried shrip---excellent !!!!!
PJ had beef tampiquena...Grilled Strip of Beef Heart Filet with the Traditional Garnish of Guacamole, Refried Beans, Chicken Enchilada, Sliced Onions and Chile Poblano Strips [Not Hot].
for dessert , my moh had a b-day song and was given their Kukulcan pyramid- a hard dark choc pyramid that when you lift up had a pile of ammaretto cream and fruit in it---so fabulous.
i know there are a few brides going to cancun on their honeymoon so i figured this might be helpful..if its not...well im sorry for making Kim so hungry
