Anyone else doing candle centerpeices instead of flowers? I am doing floating candles in a glass bowl with red and white rose petals and votive candles around it. Perhaps a lighted fake flower wreath. Does it sound too 'cheap'? My FMIL says that flowers would look better, I love candles, plus I don't want to spend all that money!!!THANKS girls!

Re: Candle Centerpeices
my friend did floating candle centerpieces and they looked beautiful.
she had a big bowl w/water and floating rose candles. then everyone's favor was a pretty votive scented candle which she layed out around the large bowl.
If my room wasn't so white I would do it too. But, at the Vineyards it's too neutral not to have some color in the ballroom.

We wanted to do a floating candle centerpiece too, it's a beautiful idea, does anyone have any pics?

I felt the same way you did...re: candles and no flowers for centerpieces. but then my mother whipped out pictures of past weddings she attended and IMO, they do not capture the actual beauty in pictures the way flowers do.

Not the best pic but an idea..
eta. the pink candle also was very glittery and after it was in the water a few min it made the water shimmer and sparkle!! I think some candles around it and rose petals sprinkled around and it would look really nice!
I am doing lighted pumpkin centerpieces...no flowers for the tables.

I am doing something similar. I am not really that big on flowers, so what I am doing is I am having staggered cp's- 3 small ones on the table.
one opposite ends I will have a small (4inch) mint julep cups with 3 or 5 flowers in each one. then in the center of the table I am either having a floating flower in a bowl surrounded by votives (no candles actually in the bowl) or a candelabra with flowers wrapped around it.
I am planning on testing it out soon to see how it looks- until then I don't have any pics, but as soon as I do, I will post.
I think it is a choice of personal opinion to be honest. I am not a big flower person and always knew I would do floating candles with votives around the base. I think it sets an elegant romantic look. My place is on the water and it will look perfect in the room.
Remember this is your wedding! You do what you like!

Re: Candle Centerpeices
I love candles so we decided to do candles instead of flowers. These are the candle gardens we bought to put in the middle of the table and we are putting 12 frosted votives and rose petals around.
