Re: Candle placecards

I was at Michele's wedding this weekend and I think they lit the candles towards the end of the cocktail hour so they werent lit too long before we picked it up, but no it was not hot at all as we carried it to our table.

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea. I am soooo not crafty. I would love to be able to buy the products and pay soemone (like Sonicstef) just to make them for me!!!!!!

I dont think there is a place to buy them but maybe. I saw a photo of something similiar a long time ago and figured out how to do it myself.

The process of attaching the vellum to the candle is quite a pain so having someone else do it would be pretty expensive (it took my friend and several hours to do about 75)

The candle gets warm but not hot. Make sure you use tealights (not votives).

Re: Candle placecards

Steph, I know you've been thru this a million times, but where did you get the candle holders? I was wondering if maybe instead of doing the vellum wrap, just getting one of those paint pens and writing out the names on them instead.
Obviously, I'm not as crafty as you but like the idea of the candle placecards.

Do you guys think it would look okay doing it that way?

Re: Candle placecards

Honestly - unless you have INCREDIBLY neat handwriting and an arm of steel, I dont see how you could possibly write neatly and straight on a rounded glass surface. Remember, they will all be lined up next to each other so if they dont look uniform, its going to get messy. Plus, if you just write directly on clear glass, your guests will barely be able to read it because there will be no contrast behind the letters. I dont want to discourage you because maybe it will look great but that is just my initial impression.

I got the votives from Micheals...just the plain 'straight' glass votive holders.

Sonicstef: What are the dimensions of the vellum paper that you place on one holder?

Re: Candle placecards

I love this idea but I am confused as to how the vellum gets attached. I have all this extra vellum I could use.

Stef: How did you do it? Sorry to be asking, but I'm not very familiar to the process. Also, you said that you lit them later on during the reception, so did you provide matches and everyone lit their own? Thanks for your help.

Re: Candle placecards

Thanks curly! Its all in that thread.

Sorry, I dont have the exact dimensions but the reason why its so labor intensive is because each wrap has to be cut individually to accomadate for slight differences in the glass votive holders.

My coordinator lit the candles before guests entered the room. Most guests left it lit on their table all night.

This does sound like a project and a half! I am sure it was all worth it for you Stef. Thanks for the idea.

Sonicstef - with the vellum... can you just feed it through your printer? I'm so dumb when it comes to things like this.

So beautiful but way too much for me to do! I wish I had the time and patience.

Re: Candle placecards

Yes, I just fed the vellum through my printer. I used a laser printer becuase its a lot easier than an inkjet.
