Re: Candy Bar?
You can have a candy bar. Just as long as there is also food.
First of all, people need to eat food - not just candy. A lot of people don't like or don't want to eat candy for health reasons. And what about diabetics? They definitely need healthy options besides just candy.

Re: Candy Bar?
I think you should also have food at a wedding. People expect to eat when invited to a wedding and there's only so much candy you'd want to eat all day. If you want to have the candy bar at the end...that would be nice but I wouldn't do just that.

If you really mean no food and just candy, then yes I would say that is tacky. It's a wedding, not a children's party. Besides, how would you even find a rh that would agree to that...you don't want their food, just to bring in candy? It's very strange.
Food and candy together, or candy in place of a viennese hour - that's great!

I think you should def have food at the wedding. I think the guests expect to have some kind of food available to them.
I do love candy bars, we are having one at our wedding with a chocolate fountain as desert

I dont think you can invite your guests to a wedding and not serve them a meal. I think I would be really annoyed if I arrived and was only served jelly beans.

I think a lot of it depends on the time of day...you can't serve guests just candy if its during a meal time. If you are worried about pleasing more people, you could get diabetic candy and a chocolate fountain with fruit and pretzels. It's your wedding and it should fit your fiance and you, just don't hold the reception at dinner time and let your guests know that its a dessert reception.

You definitely need food. I don't know what I'd do if I went to a wedding and they didn't serve food! If you're not into much fuss, you can do a standing cocktail party (sort of like a cocktail hour but have it last longer), and then go straight to dessert. You should put on the invite 'invited to cocktail party' though so people know there won't be a full meal.
