candy buffet?

candy buffet?

So I'm a BIG time candy lover and we already have personalized favor bags...I'm thinking of doing the candy buffet for favors. Maybe getting 7-10 different candy ideas and putting it in bowls with scoops for guests to choose.

I'm just not sure, how much of each kind of candy to get. I will have approx 180 guests. Is 5 lbs of each candy enough? I also don't know how the guests will know that this is their favor and what to do. Do I leave the empty bags on their table..I mean how will that look when they get there at first? LOL Does the DJ maybe make an announcement about it? I dunno..

I'm clueless but I LOVE the idea. If you've done it or seen it, please let me know how. Also, is this an acceptable favor? I was goig to just fill the bags with jelly beans so I would think this would be even better: )

Re: candy buffet?

i did a candy buffet and i LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did the bags on the buffet itself and people knew what to do with them - trust me!

as for amounts of candy - i don't know how we figured it out - but we went home with a LOT of leftover.

one thing that people will appreciate....do a sugar free candy bowl!!!!

let me think - we did:

pixie sticks
regular red & white peppermints
mixed sugared candy (got it at star-trac)
ring pops
root beer barrells
1 bowl of sugar free variety candies
smarties
chocolate footballs, basketballs & baseballs

eta: it was not our only favor - we also did cookies & homemade chocolate

okay...see I'm thinking of doing it more or less as our only favor. We are getting little fans made up that say thanks for coming with our nams and date..and We had little bags made up with our names on them....I was goign to fill them with jelly beans and call it a day until I thought of this.

you 100% could do that - but in that case - i'd make sure you have a LARGE variety of candy....not necessarily having 10 pounds of each candy - but have 5 pounds of 10 different candies...ya know??

We are doing a Candy Buffet, just a small one with like 7 different kinds of candy but it is not our ONLY favor... we are also doing favors, slipper basket, a Coffee Bar (FH and I love coffee).... Oh and then a small bag like you are talking of that i am putting (i don't know what yet) in. Was thinking almonds or chocolate that will sit on the napkin.... Although we are not having a HUGE wedding so the cost of all of it is not going to kill us.

Re: candy buffet?

We did a donation as our favor and the candy buffet as well. The bags were on the buffet table. Since our colors were black and white we decided that everything in the buffet would be multicolored. So we did:

-different flavor twizzlers (2 jars-one had red, blue and orange, the other had pink, purple and green)
-skittles
-m&ms
-gumballs
-diff.colored rock candy (I would skip that, nobody ate it, though it looked pretty)
-gummy bears
-sour patch kids
-jelly bellies
-chocolate covered cookie dough balls

then we had 2 different sugar free bowls as well, one was a chocolate, one was jelly beans.

it was a hit, definitely do it, your guests will love it!!

Re: candy buffet?

Thanks everyone for postiing pics and ideas! I spoke to Fh though and he doesn't like the idea. He says since guests will have to make their own bags, it wont feel like a favor..will feel like the hall provided it like the chocolate fountain or whatever.

I will keep talking to him about it but I guess we'll stick to the original idea. One bag of jelly belly jelly beans per person ( in the personalized satin bag) and one fan ( that has our names/date and say thanks for sharing our day) per couple. I have RACKED my brains trying to figure another favor idea out. I know for me, I have a drawer full of favors I have never used....and I don't want to waste any more money on things!! If I could find one that went with my theme ( doves) I would do it! I also love wine...and wine was given out at my shower. FH's sister just gave out bottle openers and my sister just gave out stoppers so those ideas are out.

So...do I have enough or do you have any ideas for a desperate girl 28 days til doomday?? LOL

A small wedding? I am SO jealous, LOL. We invited 215 and so far only 10 no's. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That sounds awesome! I love the candy idea. I got my bags on ebay, and they're awesome. if you're interested FM me.

Yeah we only invited 102 people... and since so many have to travel we may have like 60. But we couldn't see inviting people just for the sake of it. We invited only those that we would LOVE to spend a day with. At the time it wasn't a money issue... now it is... so i am glad we did it this way.
