How would I figure out how much candy I would need if I wanted to do a candy buffet? I've invited 280 guests. I'm anticipating 240. Is it a certain amount of poundage per guest or what? TIA

Re: Candy Buffet?
I know that we are going to do this for my wedding, but my cousin is in charge of it and I don't know how she is going to calculate it.
I know for my shower of 50 women, we filled up the candy buffet 3 times! and we had about 8 different containers or more. :-/

i wouldn't make urself crazy if u're having other dessert.... our m'd told us to just go to costco or bj's and get bulk of whatever we wanted... it's there as a nice option which some will take & some will not unless ur making favor bags for each guest!

Well, I was going to get some stuff from Oriental Trading bc it's cheap. I'm not looking to spend big money on candy bc we get a dessert on top of our wedding cake. I just want the Candy Buffet bc I think it's cute.

that is a good idea then. Oriental trading is fine. Or you can try economycandy.com I just got my jordan almonds from them and they are delicious and cheap!

Re: Candy Buffet?
The best thing to do is decide on the size of the bag you are using for the buffet. Once you get that, fill one with M&Ms and see how much that weighs.
But I've heard you should plan on a pound of candy for every 2-3 people. So divide you guests by 2.5 and that'll tell you what you need. If you are having 240, get about 100-110 lbs.
Also, for the amount of candy you have I recommend picking 5 or 6 candies you want. otherwise you are going to have so much on the table that it is going to look like a Halloween party. plan on getting big jars and filling them with a small selection.
