Canoe or Kayak ?

OK, call me crazy, but whats the difference?

I know a Kayak when I see one, but then I see a canoe and think its a kayak...

Water experts, give me the scoop, lol.

We're gonna kayak on the Nissequogue as soon as the weather gets nice

ummm...I thought a kayak was for 1....a canoe for more than 1....I think a canoe is a little wider than a kayak...

A kayak has holes that you sit in, your legs are covered within the kayak itself. It comes with 1 or 2 seats.

Canoes are open, so your legs are exposed when you are sitting in it. I think they are basically 2 seats but I can be wrong. I know more about kayaking.

Those aren't technical explanations but I think you can probably get the point.

Have fun!!

DH & I love kayaking. We want to buy one now that we will be living close to the water.

a canoe is much longer than a kayak. Also, a canoe is usually made of medal and it has room for up to 4 people. The oars that you use to paddle with has only one 'flipper' (the part that goes in the water).

a kayak is genarally made of plastic and has seats for one or two and when you sit in it you are really close to the water. The oar you paddle with has flippers on both ends and you alternate sides when you paddle.
