Can't Find a reception hall! Getting very Frustrated!
Original post by Mel329
Hi Ladies,
It has been one month today that I have been engaged and I am miserable. Everyone says what a great time in your life this is, but I can't find any reception hall that I like. I am from Westchester, but really don't want the typical Westchester Wedding, which is basically all the New Rochelle places. I have been to 12 places and can't even name a top 2. I have been to:
1. Surf Club, New Rochelle (my FH and family like it here, but I always said that I didn't want a New Rochelle place because everyone has been there)
2. Beckwith Pointe, New Rochelle
3. Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club
4. Chateau La Mer
5. Crescent Beach Club ( I loved it here the first time I went, brought FH & dad and they said they didn't like the inside and that if it rained I would have no good pictures)
6. Carlton on the Sound
7. F.E.A.S.T. Caterers - Round Hill (upstate by Newburgh/Stewart Airport) very nice old mansion but dance floor was in another room
8. Belvedere Mansion
9. Candlewood Inn (CT)
10. Foxhill Inn (CT)
11.Onteora MountainHouse (upstate NY)
12. Can't remember
If anyone could give any suggestions nearby westchester, not too far out long island, CT, even NJ I would appreciate it. The only thing I ever wanted was ocean/Long Island Sound but I'm starting to give up on that and look at old manors/mansions. I plan on having around 200 people and really would like a place where it is one event at a time. Obviously, I am being extremely picky, but I always thought that I would just fall in love with a place, but that is not happening. Thanks for any help you could give.

Only a month! That's nothing! It took me 10 months to find a place! It will happen.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely look at some of those places. I called the Harrison House today and they told me over the phone that on a Friday night it iks $189.00 pp and 2 hunderd something for sat. That is way to expensive for me. Does anyone know how much the Bourne Mansion is? Thanks, mel

Hi Mel, Dont worry, I got engaged in March and didnt book until Memorial Day weekend...I was very picky. I ended up going with Flowerfield's, it is a wonderful place on Long Island (north shore), I saw that someone put a post for you to check out Land's End, they are also owned by the same company as Flowerfields and have wonderful views, great food, the staff is incredible to work with, etc. etc. etc. I can go on and on about how wonderful they are!

I second checking out Flowerfield where FH and I are getting married, amazing place! Also check out Lands End or Tribeca Rooftop, same owners for all 3 catering halls. Best of luck to you!

What about the Venetian Yacht Club. It has an amazing view. I was at an affair there not too long ago and the food and service were great.

Oh - it looks like the Harrison House is more $$$ than I was quoted last spring. For a sat night I was quoted $175.
sorry

Have you tried the Royalton at the Roslyn Country Club in Roslyn Heights? It's relatively new so I'm sure the place would be new to most of your guests. I just booked there and it's a beautiful place. They don't have a website but their contact info is on the wedding sites and services website. It's an old mansion recently renovated, and only does one affair at a time.
Hope this helps!

This might be a bit far for you because it's all the way at the eastern end of Long Island, but I got married at Raphael Winery. It was beautiful and we were the only event there. There are also other wineries out there who do weddings.
