One of you girls asked if we knew how much this dress cost? ( I can't remember who though) Anyway i'm in my cousin's weddign on the 17th and this is the dress his fiance picked for the BP. We got them at Renates in Lindenhurst (didn't really like that store). It cost $260 and my alteration are costing $70, this is the cap. I feel they ordered me a dress too big on purpose to charge me the cap. When they ordered my dress I told them to order me a 6. I'm ususallly a 4 or a 6 in regular clothes. But they insisted on ordering me a 10. Needless to say it is gigantic on me and everything needs to be taken in. I'm pretty tall and have never required a hem in my entire life! I guess there is a first time for everthing.
Oh, BTW, the seamstress told me that my hem looked crooked (longer in the front) because of my big butt!!! Can you believe she actually said that!!!!
we went there for my friends wedding, she got married in april. one of the ladies working there told my other friend who is also a bm that shes too young to be heavier and looks like a pear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edited bc it made no sense lol, but how rude and mean is that?????

1. My mom had a miserable experience at their old location that has since closed, but until now I've heard nothing but good on LIW about this location.
2. It's possible they ordered too big to charge you the cap, but I'm usually a 4 (or 2!) in regular clothes and I fit perfectly in the size 10 sample for my wedding dress. We ordered a 12 just to be safe -- I lost some weight in the meantime and my dress was swimming on me but my alterations (elsewhere) didn't hit the cap and my dress looked great once they were done. Most BM and wedding dresses run really small, and it's better to take it in than to need to let it out (which is way expensive and sometimes not included in the cap)
3. not saying its acceptable AT ALL but was this seamstress foreign or old? I know it sounds so stereotypical but I've had some interesting seamstresses and consultants and they are very blunt. It *IS* possibly for a dress to ride up in the front because there's not enough fabric allowance to account for your butt or boobs (even if they are super tiny). It was a totally tactless thing to say, but I've heard some other crazy things too so try not to get too upset by it

The dress is cute, but if that lady would have said something rude like that to me, I probably would have punched her.

Re: can't remember who asked about this dress
im sorry that happened to you...but i do have to say that at bridal salons they are required to order the size that will fit your largest measurement. So lets say you have bigger hips than the rest of you they have to order to assure that the dress will fit your hips. And as bluegreen said, bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and formal wear sizing is not true to regular sizing. I usually were a 2/4 and I was an 8 in a bm gown. So you can't really judge that way.

Re: can't remember who asked about this dress
one of my BM's suggested this one as an alternative to another we were looking at by Jasmine too. Do you like the way it looks on the girls? Think it's flattering?
