car help!

okay...i have a 5spd honda civic that i looove but driving to queens with a manual car *****!!!!!!!!! so we are thinking of getting a new car. personally, i'd rather buy a used cr-v than a new one to keep payments down b/c i have a school loan too and so that insurance isn't extreme. so i have some questions-

make and model-what do you all like?
used or new-
best place for a loan?
what's the difference between 4wd and awd?

How much do you want to spend? I can remmond the Saturn Vue, or the Hyandai Sante Fe or the new Tuscon, or the Suzuki Grand Vitara or the XL7, or the Kia Sorrento.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. I am thinking you want to stay with something foreign and not go with an american SUV, right?

i'm such a honda girl but i'm also debating just going for an accord and skip the whole suv thing and just go for something automatic and safe. i wish i had a $h!tload of money to go and not worry and buy whatever!

So new or used? And how much you want to spend? Can you wait till the summer? Cause then you can get a really good deal with the next year models coming out

What kind of area do you teach in? I ask because I am very hesitant to bring a brand new car to the area I work in. My co-workers have had cars stolen and vandalized, usually the newer ones. Not saying to get a clunker, but if you have a similar situation I would think about that. When I do have to get something I won't get something new and flashy.

Re: car help!

How about a Hyundai? My friend just picked up a 2002 Elentra GT with leather, cd player, moonroof and 10k miles for $9500. This car is clean, sporty, quick, and comfortable. We just took it too mystic connecticut two weeks ago and there was plenty of leg room in the car...You can get obe for under $18k loaded, and you get a 10 year 100k mile warranty...If that is too small for you, I would go with the Sonata. Hyundai will be redoing the Sonata for 2006, so you could probably get a 2005 Sonata at a pretty good deal...If it is around the time the 2006 comes out.

i'm thinking used, something with good to great gas mileage, something reliable b/c i drive an hour each way, something not too flashy b/c i don't want it stolen, looking to spend 10-12k, and something safe.

yes, i can wait till the summer.

Re: car help!

If your considering used then you dont need to wait...or you can also get new and not spend as much....You can get a Hyundai Elantra GLS for under $15,000 new..and that comes with a 10 year 100k mile warranty, or the Suzuki Forenza....Which is a really nice Japanese car for under $15k....which got a really good write up. I would go with the elantra. Just look around at dealerships, in the newsday, and on the internet, Autotrader.com, buylines.com and newsday.com

I am sure you will find something...If you need any help let me know.
