thanks to Al's recent accidents, we're having trouble finding insurance in NY. We had Amex in CA, but they can't write the policy for NY.
Any advice on companies to look into that won't charge a fortune? We've both got clean licenses, except for the two recent accidents in Al's car (one's his fault).

Re: Car insurance
Tri-State Consumer Insurance. The payments are HALF of what I was paying with my previous company. Or Geico, my fam has it and they don't charge too much. Good Luck!

Re: Car insurance
I have Travelers. Right now Im paying alot because I am waiting for my car accident to pass. As soon as it is time to renew my coverage in may it will have gone down $800 a year. If you want I can give you my brokers phone number. They are a really good company to deal with. They are located in Valley Stream on Sunrise Hwy...Diagonally across from Staples.

Re: Car insurance
We have a number of friends who work for geico who all tell us NEVER use them - they do save you some money but once you have ANY problems at all they either drop you or drive your rates MUCH higher than other companies.
What about: All state State farm Travelers Auto one
I'm sorry you are having that problem - it can be very frustrating

Re: Car insurance
state farm is REALLY good... but not the cheapest....theyre suppose to be #1 in the country
i know allstate is #1 in ny... and i think is a little cheaper
geico is cheap, but id stay away from them... theyre not the best to deal with if you have an accident...

Re: Car insurance
I tried State Farm and Geico already. Geico is $$$$ and State Farm says we won't be eligible for 10 months.
I'm going to check out the other places mentioned as well.
Keep em coming! Thanks

Re: Car insurance
Uhmm try One Beacon
It's all I can suggest.. both Jim and I (now) have clean records (for now) so we got a ridiculously cheap rate from Amica Mutual.
Unfortunately we JUST got Jim on it because he had a fender bender (little thing) back in Sept of 00 and that threw him into the High Risk pool... he was paying nearly $4,000 a year for JUST his car!!!
Now combined we pay $300 a month, two sports cars both fully covered (i love my baby, meaning my car). 10 months no deposit ever and we get back dividends at the end of each year. Odd that our insurance company pays us. *shrug*

Re: Car insurance
We have GEICO and they are amazing. I got my dad and friends to switch to them. they all saved a lot of money. only thing is they drop you like a lead balloon if you hang the wrong air freshner in your car (ok that is quite an exaggaration) but they recently dropped my brother because his wife had a few accidents, but they weren't her fault! tha't how they keep their rates so low. so i don't know if they will give you a problem because of the accidents, but they sure are cheap!!
