Re: Car Insurance??

My husband loves Geico and my parents love State Farm. Go figure! I think any of the big ones can't rip you off - well, I guess they can, but they are more reputable!

Re: Car Insurance??

I have Allstate and have had them for years. They have been great with any issues that have come up. My car is 10 yrs old and I dropped the collision, so of coarse I got hit from behind and was having a problem with the other insurance co (State Farm), and even though Allstate was not getting paid to (b/c of the no collision) they told me exactly what to do and say every step of the way to get State Farm to do the right thing, which in the end they did

Re: Car Insurance??

I used to have Progressive - They were the cheapest I could find. Geico quoted me over $5000/year! Now my FH and I have Allstate and are very happy with them.

Re: Car Insurance??

I have had Travelers for a couple of years. They had a better price than Geico or any other I had found and I'd heard good things about them. I haven't had any accidents or anthing though, knock on wood, so I haven't really seen what their service is like first hand. Oh, I also have my renters insurance with them too so I get a discount for that.

Re: Car Insurance??

I have All State too. I used to have State Farm, but their prices went up after I got married
Because we didnt have a multi car package, and he told me that because I live out east Im more likely to get into an accident. That is BULLS*IT!!!!!Its more like the opposite.
I switched over, and he gave me the same exact coverage for less.

Re: Car Insurance??

My hubby is in the car dealership business and deals with insuring people all the time. He swears by Geico. I personally have had State Farm since I learned to drive and pay $75 a month to insure my car (full coverage). I get discounts for being accident free, having taken a defensive driving course, and for not driving my car more than 7,500 miles a year (I work less than 5 miles from home). Always look into these discounts!!

Re: Car Insurance??

I merged my insurance into his, which was State Farm and then looked into other insurance to switch to. We now have Geico, which is great. The difference in price for the same coverage is huge. Progressive, which claims to have low rates and all that, was so high. And we are both drivers with clean records & have taken defensive driving class.

chmlengr-I'm glad to know that Geico gets the thumbs up from your hubby who's in the business.

Re: Car Insurance??

check out American Express - they were considerable lower than anyone else, but only if you have an accident/ticket free record.

Re: Car Insurance??

I swear by GEICO but I am biased. I worked there for 8 years! They really are one of the best insurance companies in New York. There are so many factors that go into determining rates and every company underwrites differently. That is why certain folks get a lower rate from one company while someone else may get a higher rate from that same company. And GEICO really does have 24 hour service that beats every other company hands down. Before anyone thinks I am advertising for them, I haven't worked there for almost 3 years and my husband and I are not even insured by them. My husband had his cars and house insured with USAA before we got married so I added my car to his policy. USAA rates are by far the best for good drivers, but you have to have been in the military or had a parent in the military to get it. We have everything through them. But I would recommend GEICO or State Farm as two of the best.

Re: Car Insurance??

I have CNA which is now Encompass. You have to have a perfect record. I think Geico is the same. My broker is Proios Insurance. They are in Port Jefferson Station. They have been around for decades. Ask for John or Anastasia. They can get a couple of quotes so you can decide where to go. 631-473-9200 I Sound like a vendor now. but they are great. My sister uses them and they are always quick to get me things. I always loose my bill and insurance cards.
